Fun at the Faire

Heather's Mad Archery SkillzThe end of summer is my favorite time of year for mainly one reason. It's Renaissance Faire season! If you haven't been to a Renaissance Faire, I highly suggest you find one in your area and add it to your summer to-do list.

There are all kinds of great things to do at Faire. There are tons of amazing shops with hand-crafted products and things you'll never find elsewhere. Great shows -- all included in the price of your ticket. Fun food like giant turkey legs and "steak on a stake". And the people watching -- that's probably the best part. So many people (including myself) dress up for Faire and there's all kinds of wacky outfits!

We love to play all the games. I'm particularly good at archery (check out my action shot!) and knife throwing. At the Renaissance Faire near us, there's a new booth where you can throw tomatoes at a guy that insults you. It's all really good, goofy fun and a great day trip if you're looking for something to do before summer is officially over.

Looking for more things to do? Why not plan an inexpensive dinner party with your friends?

re: Fun at the Faire

My parents took my sister and I to a renaissance fair when we were younger. I also went to one with DH and his family - my BIL played a game where he had to climb up a rope ladder type of thing, and he fell, quite dramatically. Some little 6-year-old did it right after him, and of course climbed the rope  perfectly. LOL

Ah... I'm not the only nerd.  :-)  DH and I like going because I think we are four-year-olds in 26- and 31-year-old bodies and, well, we like to play dress-up.  My wedding dress was based on a 15th century courtier gown, but the whole wedding wasn't medieval or anything.  Just the bride.  Silly?  Yes.  Princess?  Yes.  Anyway, I worked at the Michigan Renaissance Festival in high school selling apple dumplings and turkey drumsticks.  Never again will I eat Renaissance Festival turkey drumsticks.  STAY AWAY FROM THE DRUMSTICKS.  :-)
