Lounge in style

We’re finally starting to decorate our apartment after moving in two months ago. We have a pretty small living room, so I wanted to think of some ways to really open up the area.

After reading these helpful home decorating tips, I decided to leave the walls white and hang fun, decorative mirrors to add the illusion of more space. I also went with light, cool colors to make the space feel open and airy. And for the final touch, I couldn’t resist this funky rug I spotted in Urban Outfitters! It was the perfect size (and price) for my small space.

What are some decorative elements you’ve added to your home to really make it cozy and intimate?

re: Lounge in style

I've always found that having live plants in a space helps make it feel more like home.  If you don't have a green thumb, get a pothos (also known as a Devil's Ivy).  They're practically impossible to kill (You can neglect to water it for quite a while before it'll die), and it'll clue you in to when it needs water (the leaves will start to look very droopy).  You can get them pretty much anywhere (florist, grocery store florist, nursery, etc.).

re: Lounge in style

I just moved into my new apartment this weekend with Nest_Caitlin and I have to say my favorite decor element in the place is the three magazine racks from ikea that we have hanging over our sofa. It's cute wall art that is cheap and reflects our personalities and our interests for only ten bucks peice! Can't wait to start painting now! If only we could choose a color...
