Bye Bye Boring Walls

Our blank walls have started to get on my nerves. We have little time or money to throw at home decor right now, so I was excited when I found this Nest article that gave me a great idea for our living room, DIYwall art.

I love these stretch canvas pieces because they are part homemade and part pre-done for you - plus they look great, and come in
all sorts of colors and motifs.

The kit from TxtlArt.com includes all the fabric and stretchers you need, all you have to use from home is a staple gun, an iron, and scissors.

I also realized that decorating our apartment would be an ongoing project, one that would require lots of wall mounting. It'salways a bummer to strategize the perfect spot on your wall, only to find out that it won't support the weight of your wall hanging. You need to find a stud. Yes, you're already married and have a stud of your own, but I'm talking about a structural stud in the wall.

The solution - buy a good stud finder like this one by Black & Decker at Lowes.com. Not only does it detect wood, metal studs & live A/C wires, but it also has an automatic laser level on it too! What more could you want?

Do you guys have any great home improvement gadgets that you can't live without?

The best picture hanging hooks you can get at Home Depot or Lowe's (I guess). They are called O.O.K. hooks and you don't even need to find a stud for these to work. They come in a yellow and blue package. My DH used to work for Home Depot and swears by them. Plus we just hung up a picture in our condo, about 50 pds., and I was shocked when he said they we didn't need to find a stud. They work 100%. Just estimate how much you think the hanging weighs and buy that hook.
