Mile High Style

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to take a mini-vacation with a friend of mine to the luxurious Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas. I really needed some R&R and it definitely delivered (hot stone massage, anyone?).

The one hurdle standing in my way to bliss? The 5 1/2 hour flight from the east coast to Vegas. That’s why I made myself a little carry-on kit that got me to my destination feeling refreshed (or at least not frazzled). I stocked basics like bottled water to stay hydrated (remember, due to recent security restrictions you cannot carry a bottle of water through security checkpoints), lip gloss, a brush, hand moisturizer, breath mints, and this cool lavender spa mask from PatinaStores.com. These few items don't take up a lot of room and allow me to freshen up a bit before reaching my destination -- and feel a whole lot better after spending hours on a cramped plane.

With the holidays quickly approaching, we'll all be doing a lot of cross-country traveling -- what tips do you have for travel? What do you pack in your carry-on bag?

re: Mile High Style

I pack everything that you pack in my carry-on, as well as a really good book, makeup, ginger Altoids (for nausea from in flight weather patterns, weird cabin smells, etc), and a legal pad and ballpoint pen for when I start feeling creative on the plane.  I'd bring my iPod too but I don't think they'd let me use it on the plane!

re: Mile High Style

I fly cross country several times a year, and my one travel luxury is bringing my own blanket.  I got fed up with catching a cold every time I used an airplane pillow or blanket, so I started leaving enough room in my carry on for my favorite throw.  I can't fly without it any more!
