Cool Fix for Bare Walls
Figuring out what to hang on your walls makes for a big conundrum when you can't afford the art you crave. But I recently learned about one great solution: Recycled museum banners from BetterWall. These are the same beautiful banners that museums hang on city streetlights to advertise their latest exhibits, and this site recycles them by making them available to the public once the exhibits end. By purchasing one you get something to cover that naked stretch of wall in your dining room AND keep a big piece of vinyl out of a landfill. They’re not cheap (most run about $500) but are limited edition collectors’ items, and make for a bargain way to get an image by a modern master such as Picasso, Duchamp or Chuck Close on your walls. Think of them as an elite, eco-friendly alternative to the classic museum shop poster.
