Stylish Green Holiday Decor
It’s suddenly time to think about holiday décor, especially if you’re too busy to shop for it and plan to do things online. The Vivaterra catalog just came in the mail, and I was excited to see that they have all sorts of eco-conscious but surprisingly stylish things that will dress up your home for the season. Check out these beautiful branch and bark candlesticks and vases, which are crafted out of recycled aluminum. They’ve also got organic *** willow wreaths, colorful ornaments and stockings made out of recycled sweaters, and lots of other cool trimmings that are either recycled or made in a low-impact way.
On the subject of catalogs, I just signed up for this really genius free service called Catalog Choice. It helps you stop the barrage of unwanted glossies that waste trees and clog up your mailbox. But unlike those lists you sign up for to stop receiving junk mail, Catalog Choice doesn’t automatically stop every catalog—you have to spend a little time on the site specifying the catalogs you don’t want. Although it’s a bit more work, it’s nice because if there are certain catalogs you really love flipping through you can still receive them, while stopping those annoying ones that go straight to the recycling pile. (Just remember that if you receive multiple copies of some catalogs—under your married name, your maiden name and your husband’s name—you’ll have to cancel them all separately).
