The Perfect Time Waster

This holiday season, if long lines and schedule delays have you waiting, break out a pad and pencil and get doodling. You may think I’m crazy, but it’ll make time fly and is a funny game to play with your spouse. Here’s how it works: After you scribble, flip through this cool book (check it out at restorationhardware.com) to decode your doodle. It gives you the inside scoop on what over 100 common scribbles really mean.

That weird cat or spider web your significant other makes? Well, I’ll leave it to you to discover what it means. It’s also a funny game to break out at cocktail parties, plane rides, family gatherings, and can even work as a random coworker gift for all those parties coming up. Just be warned: You may learn more than you want to about your fellow Picassos!

What token gifts are you planning to give for the holidays?

Sounds like fun - I love things like that.  I used to play a similar game (without the meanings) with my girls - scribble in a waiting room and hand the pad over for them to make a picture out of it.  I think they'd really get a kick out of this (if it's appropriate) and bring back memories.  I'll have to check it out.  Thanks!

re: The Perfect Time Waster

Hi Krissy,

My name is Beatrice and I just started working at The Knot TV as an Assistant Producer/Editor last week. I'm doing Bee Gee's "The Knot Inc. Scavenger Hunts" project right now to better acquaint myself with what The Knot, The Nest, etc. have to offer, and my next task is to "Find The Nest Editor's blog and give them some feedback on a post."

So...here I am! Just wanted to say hello, and what a great suggestion for a time killer. Reminds me of a stocking stuffer I gave my boyfriend (even though he's Jewish, let's just say he had an imaginary stocking) just this past December. It's called "What Happened Here? Events that Shaped American History." I got it at a store that sells houseware and other fun gifts in Toronto, Canada, where I am from. I knew we had a long drive back to New York (8-10 hours) on New Year's Day, and so this was just something I thought he would enjoy, and more importantly, that we could share...together!

See you around the office!
