Albany ladies...good 1st anniv. restaurant?

DH and I are celebrating our 1st anniversary on 9/15.  We want to go out to a really nice dinner.  It can be anywhere in the Capital Region really...up to Saratoga (we live in Latham).  So far we've considered D'Raymond's in Loudonville, and Provence in Albany.  Any other ideas??  We want to make reservations soon.

I LOVE Provence!  Other Albany spots that are good are Jack's, 677 Prime and Nicole's on Delaware Ave.

I am thinking we might try Tosca in Troy for our anniversary on Tuesday!  I haven't been there, but have heard it is great.

Congrats!!!!

Here are a few we like:

1)  Bellini's - in both Slingerlands and Clifton Park.  they aren't a chain, but they do have a few local locations.   http://www.eatdrinkbellinis.com/locations/index.php

2) My Linh - Vietnamese restaurant in Albany - very yummy!  (518) 465-8899

3)  Jack's: is good as the pp mentioned

 4) Carmine's:  http://www.carminesrestaurant.com/  in Colonie/Albany off of Central Ave.

Enjoy!

Saratoga National's "Prime", Paradiso Il Ristorante, Mare, Provance, Lombardos

Sorry that's a lot of Italian type places!  But Paradiso and Mare are very romantic!

LOVE Lombardo's, though it can be a little noisy.

We loved Jack's, but haven't been there in a while.  I have heard that it hasn't been the same with the new chef, but can't speak first hand.

We've found ourselves driving to Manchester, VT to Ye Olde Tavern.  It is awesome if you are up for a little road trip.

I've never been, but have heard that 677 Prime is excellent.

prime is fantastic but it doesnt give me the romance feel (at least not the one in downtown albany)

we love sam's on southern blvd. its a little place in a converted house with homemade italian food....its my fave...

we also like the Wine Bar in schenectady on union- we've only been there once but its cozy with dim lighting and live jazz...

let us know where you decide and happy anniversary!!

I agree with the others.  I LOVE Sam's like Abba stated.  We eat there or order out from there all the time.

Right now our good friends are celebrating their anniversary at Nicole's on Delaware.

We went to Provence this year for our anniversary (2nd.) The duck was wonderful. In Saratoga we like Brindisi's a lot- it's continental type food. A good romantic Italian place is Paolo Lombardi's in Wynantskill/West Sand Lake- 25 minutes from Latham. In downtown I LOVE Le Serre- hubby was hesitant about French food, but loved it (very continental menu too.) My favorite restaurant around is The Pillars but it's out in New Lebanon (40 minute drive.)

For our first anniversary, my DH and I went back to one of my favorite places- The Four Chimney's Bed & Breakfast / Inn in Bennington (45 minutes from Latham.) We've stayed & Eaten there 7-10 times, and each time was perfect. Their food is wonderful (try the mustard soup if it's on the menu- crazy sounding but delicious), the ambiance is very romantic, and if you stay over Our room picks are: Room one is beautiful- newly decorated, gas fireplace, oversized (2 person) jacuzzi tub and one of the best beds EVER (king), and Room 2 has a nice wood fireplace, four poster King bed and a great couples marble shower.  We also liked the ice house / carriage house for their privacy and Room 5 has a queen bed, but also fireplace, couples jacuzzi, and is tucked under the eaves. The breakfasts here are full b'fast cooked to order- and very delicious.

I have another to add.  I also like the Olde Shaker Inn on Route 7 near the Airport.  I think that one, Jack's and some of the other places mentioned even have coupons/discounts listed in the Clipper and Saving Source magazines/websites if you look.  Can't hurt!
