Labor Day BBQ decorations?

Any ideas for me?  As of now the forecast is sunny so it's really only the backyard I'm worried about.  We have a deck with a railing, a pool with a wooden retaining wall, fenced backyard, etc if that helps.

I'd do something simple like paper lanterns (they have some cute ones at BB&B this year) and or tiki torches.

We have some really cute little latterns that hang from our patio umbrella.  We bought them for a party, and they were a great hit.

We are doing a patriotic theme for ours, so I got red and blue tablecloths, napkins, plates and cups. I am getting balloons to tie on to the deck posts, and I got some flags to put in my planters.

What about trying to pick a theme that might go along with things you might want to keep out in your backyard all year long? Like the lanterns and torches and things like that.  I would keep in mind to make sure you have lots of those insect repellent candles and such.  I'm sure you do not want to have flys and mosquitoes all over the place at your party. But I would try to picture what you might like to have in your backyard all the time, and go from there.  Because it always helps to buy party supplies that you can continue using all year around.  It will help you save on decorations for your backyard and it might make you want to spend more time out there enjoying the decorations you bought.  If you did buy the torches you could have a lou aui and buy leis and make it a sort of hawiian themed sort of party.
