will treadmill use firm butt and thighs?

if you walk on an incline? how much of an incline would be necessary to make a difference? how long until one might see results or notice clothes fitting differently?

It depends, if you still have some fat to lose in those areas, toning muscles underneath will not be noticeable no matter how ripped they are.

My babies have fur :-)

Ditto pp - if you've got lots of fat on top of muscle, it's hard to make a difference. Losing weight would have the biggest impact.

And lifting weights / doing strength exercises would build muscle a lot faster than the treadmill. Squats and lunges really work.

I can't do lunges or squats because my knees don't hold up. the treadmill would help lose the weight though right.  I wouldn't say I have a lot of fat, just enough for me to notice it. what other thigh/butt exercises are there that aren't taxing on the knees? fwiw i'm not overweight, just got on a kick where I want to seriously tone up and try to burn off the fat that is preventing my muscles from looking their best. Plus I lost a lot of firmness when I was pg.

Walking on an incline will have a bigger impact, or so I understand.

I run rather than walk (and my knees are feeling it!) but in the past 4 months of running my butt has seriously changed! However, I went from not having a butt (got picked on for it all the time!) and I now have a nicely shaped bum, I like it! So there was some serious toning up that happened with my running.

Don't know if that will help at all, but I just wanted to say that with time you will see results if you stick with it and push yourself!

in my experience, interval training (alternating between incline and no incline) will help you firm up.  if you push yourself it will be considered cardio as well.

i find walking on an incline extremely effective.  good luck!

oh, squats and lunges also help to sculpt and shape the bum :)
