How to wash garbage can?

I saw in the How Clean is Your House? book that kitchen garbage cans are to be washed once a week.

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but how do you do it?  What materials do you use, and how to reach the bottom???

Once in awhile I haul it outside add some soap and hose it off.

On a more regular basis (When I pull the liner out)..I take a spray bottle of my cleaner (dishsoap and vinegar water) spray and wipe with a rag. Seems to do the trick and I don't notice any weird smells anymore. It's not really that dirty seeing as a trash bag is in it..it's just more of a smell fresh thing for me.

I just tip it on the side to reach the bottom.

When it's too cold to wash it outside, I'll wash it in my tub before I do my weekly cleaning of the bathroom. Although, I imagine that would be a bit more difficult if you didn't have a hand-held shower sprayer.

I put a little cleaner and water in it then wash it down.  Then dump in the toilet or sink (obviously cleaning the sink afterwards).  It's really pretty simple.

I tip it so it fits under the faucet, scrub it out then rinse the same way.

Wipe the outside off also.

I do exactly the same. I must have freakishly long arms as I have no trouble reaching the bottom of my trash can, LOL.

I rarely clean mine. But when i do, I just put some dish soap in it and hose it of outside.  I do however spray it with lysol each time I change the bag.

I usually just spray it with all purpose cleaner and wipe it out.
