It continues to get worse *a vent*

haha so just to keep you up to date on our crappy living arrangement.  Today we got a flyer on our door from management saying that on the 31st there was a "community incident."  It says the Raleigh police department is investigating and is unable to provide more info, but if we have info that we should call.  WTF?  If we knew what it was we might be able to help.  Before when we had vandalism and such they told us what it was, so this makes it sound awful.  I sent our property manager an email asking if we could have a little more info. We don't need specifics, but it's like I said ...a murder or rape is a lot different then vandalism. 

 I'm trying to find a copy of the NC renter's rights online, but haven't found it yet...ugh I'm so frustrated.

ETA: I found the info for the "incident" online.  It was a murder.  The victim and the 2 arrested in conjunction with it all lived in the same building. It was consider nonnegligent manslaughter...which after googling means it wasn't premeditated.  Still not the type of neighborhood I wish to live in, even though I know it can happen anywhere.

Thanks...DH and I plan on going to talk to the property manager on Friday and seeing if we can get out of the lease.  We've now asked 3 times to have the locks changed and have been ignored.ugh

That sounds awful. Between all the problems you've had there, I'm sure you have a right to get out of your lease. If they don't agree with you on letting you out of the lease w/out penalty, maybe it would be worth it to get a lawyer to write a letter to the complex? It would probably be cheaper to hire a lawyer to write a letter than to pay out the remaining term of your lease or the penalty for early withdrawl.  I bet the apt. complex would fold, just knowing you are serious about standing up for your rights as tenants.
