Daily Vent

OK - this really bothers me haha. I went to vote today. I didn't vote for any candidates - only 2 amendments and that was it. I had to stand in like maybe 2 minutes to vote and guess what - no "I voted today" sticker :( How dumb. Is the economy really that bad that they can't even afford stickers?

As a side note, I've always voted with pencil/paper. This was a snazzy voting machine with levers, curtains, the whole nine yards! I'm still mad about not getting a sticker. Maybe I'll write my new mayor and express my disappointment ;-)

I never received or saw an "I voted" sticker in the half-dozen or so elections I voted in while I lived in NYC.  I refuse them when the election workers offer one to me.  Helps me avoid ridiculous conversations that are *almost* as stimulating as conversations about how much rain I got last night.

We used voting machines in NYC, but they weren't snazzy.  They were the some ones from when I was a kid, and who knows how long they were in use before then.

After moving to Nebraska, I learned how Fred Flintstone voted.  Paper and pencil?  How anachronistic.

LOL at the rain convos :)

As a side note - you might find this interesting! The Republicans here had the greatest strategy ever! Dem. Buffalo mayor ran unopposed! The Republicans did not put anyone up against him. Why? So less Dems would vote on Election Day. It worked! They picked up 3 or 4 big local seats - they no longer have the super-majority in Buffalo. Entire towns went from Dem control to Rep control. Dem. leadership did nothing at all to get people to get out and vote. Granted, WNY isn't as liberal as NYC and the rest of the state, but it's crazy! I didn't vote for any candidate though - didn't know enough about anyone. Also, I just wish there were some good third party candidates :)

I don't live in the same county as Buffalo, but we have a new Republican mayor - huge upset. Plus, this guy is only 30 years old! Our current Mayor was so rude during his speech last night. Based off his speech alone, I'm glad he didn't win. Never really been interested in local politics, but may soon be a fan of them!
