It's random. Our agent said 1 in 5 are being audited these days. SO INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING though. We were supposed to close today. We were supposed to have keys by now. But thanks to an audit, that's all been held up. Depending on how it goes, according to the agent, we could close as late as Thanksgiving, but "definitely by the end of the month."
Great. I mean, at least we'll close eventually, but I had to ask him who was going to pay our rent for the month of December, because there's no way in hell we can pack, close, and move on the same day. We have to be out of our apartment by the end of the month. We were also hoping to get some of the cleaning and small renovations done before DH went back to work on November 30th--removing wood panels from the front room, ripping up carpet, and painting, etc. Nothing major, but enough that it'll be a pain and take at least a week of our time, but most likely more.
I'm just really defeated. We're thisclosetoclosing. Hell, we have a clear to close from the underwriter! This random audit has really slowed us down and I'm not even motivated to keep packing, because who knows when we'll finally get the call that tells us we're officially clear to close?
