Climate change anxiety?

I've had general anxiety for a very long time and my anxiety stems from fears of death (surprise?). I now have a a four year old and the fear of the changes to come and global crisis scare me to a paralysis sometimes. Does anyone else deal with this? Anyone have any support sites for people in need of positivity?!

Thanks

See your doc and bounce this off him.

I think it would be grand if you volunteered to work with some kiddoes -- there are all kinds of groups, schools, houses of worship, teams, Scouts, tutoring venues, libraries, hospitals, you name it -- that need lots of adult volunteers and are readily welcoming to adults who can also be very positive role models and mentors for kids.

That would bring you lots of positivilty.:) You'll also feel good that you're helping somebody else.:)

You are scared to paralysis over this?  Go to your doctor and get some help.  Your four year old needs someone he can talk about his own fears and needs an adult he can trust.  If you have so much anxiety over this one issue then you won't be giving him balanced information and will probably just end up scaring HIM to the same degree as you are scared.  That's not fair to him at all.  At all.

I will also say that I'm a scientist and no, global warming doesn't scare the beejeesus out of me.

Nor has global warming been proven. I don't buy into it, either.

"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference."

Climate change freaks me out too.  There is so much that needs to be done, and sometimes it seems like no one else is paying attention.  Future generations are going to look back at this as the biggest issue of our time, and marvel at how completely we dropped the ball on it.  But this is not something any one person can fix.  At some point you have to accept that there is only so much you can do and some things are out of your hands.  You need to focus on the things that are within your control.  It will not only make you feel better, when you act on the things you can control, you do increase your area of influence gradually and over time.
