2013 Financial Goals

What is everyone's financial goals for 2013? It can be anything. If you have a non financial goal you can throw it in too. I'll start.

$1800 monthly budget less tax increases (that "fiscal cliff" is approaching). If we can stick to this then we can save $20k for a new house. I'm aiming for $60k before we buy a new one. We already have $30k to $40k in equity depending on what we can sell our house for so saving $20k will get us close.

I think that's the main goal. I'll keep funding my 401k to get the company match, paying the minimum on the student loan (2.5% interest) and mortgage, and funding my HSA for our medical expenses.

Save up for a family vacation and hopefully keep our cars running. My car is 16 years old and my wife's car is 8 years old.

I'm thinking about trying to get back into marathon running shape again too. It's been too long since I've been able to run a long distance and I'm missing it.

My number one goal is to beef up our savings account.   Our second goal is to get pregnant.   We tried for two years.  In June finally got a bfp, but miscarried at 8 weeks.   Hope I am ready to start again soon!

I have a few.

1) Organize me & fiance's finances in one place and set up auto payments everywhere so I don't have to think about it! (bank accounts, retirement, savings, etc). Mine were good, but this marriage thing adds new complexity.

2) Increase my emergency fund into enough for OUR emergency fund

3) Save up for a house (long term - 4 year horizon for ~100K)

4) Save short term for having a baby in 2014 (starting TTC in July 2013)

We now make enough for all of these goals, but I'm transitioning right now from super poor graduate student/post doc into Shiny Manager with 2.5x last year's salary + FIs salary. That's a lot more money to manage and I'm a bit overwhelmed but learning quickly.

mine is to actually get an E-fund.  and I'm so done with living paycheck to paycheck.  I'd also like to contribute to my retirement again.  DH has plans with his business to get us some more money coming in and I'm hopefull it will work

We want to finish our emergency fund.  That goal is going to be directly competing with us going to one paycheck and needing to figure out a new budget that works while learning to be parents.  Should be a fun year.

1. Paying off CC debt ($2K)
2. Paying off both our cars (around $8K left)
3. Start sticking to a budget rather then going over here and there
4. Beef up the savings so we can start TTC next fall, if posisble

My financial goals for 2013 are:

~ Have mini-emergency fund in place

~ Pay off all the debt that went into collections while my husband was unemployed. (approx $16k)

~ Pay off my car.

~ Max out the emergency fund

~ Start contributing to my company's 401k again and maybe able to get IRA's fully funded for the two of us for the year.

~ Maybe start saving for a house. (Not sure if we should look where we live now since it's close to family or if we should move to a lower cost of living area closer to his job. My job skills can go anywhere pretty easily.)

The biggest goals are to pay off my student loan (I owe just under $10k and have applied for $5k in forgiveness; I will be sending in roughly $1k a month) and continue practicing living off of DH's salary so I can SAH.

Start an e-fund, pay off my credit cards, and start chopping away at the money I owe my parents.Oh and convince BF it's time for him to actually start budgeting.

And survive my first half-marathon!

My goal for 2013 is to open and fund a Roth IRA.  I reached my goal in 2011 of paying off my student loans, so I'm excited to begin retirement savings.
