I'm excited... to cut up my credit card!

DH and I will be going oot for the holidays, but when we return I plan to cut my credit card. It expires in March, so I'll be without one for 2 months. I'm REALLY happy about this and think we'll really be able to benefit. I have the number memorized in case I was to need it for something (which I don't see happening), but we've also decided that when the new one arrives, we'll leave it at home and use it once a month for gas or groceries, only if we have money in our checking account to pay it off. I'm not the only one that abuses it, DH does too, but it's been a struggle trying to pay off some debts.

2013 is going to be a wonderful year. I can feel it!

Good for you!  I want to get to a place where we just use the card for gas, groceries, and other things we would normally pay cash for, just for the rewards.  I can turn the rewards points in to money for my investments, and I want to take advantage of that.

Exactly. I love the rewards. So hopefully when we start using it again, we're treat it like a debit card (only use it if we have the money to spend) but get all the perks.

I am glad.  I have mine locked up in my safe that way it is out of sight, out of mind.

Good for you! I couldn't survive without mine. I charge EVERYTHING to get the points.

CONGRATS!!! I was a bit...reckless in my youth and decided a trip to Europe with my much more affluent friends was a justification to run up my credit card bill. That took me YEARS to pay off and I have never run a balance since. I charge everything (for the miles!) but pay it off every month. Getting to that point deserves big congrats.
