Skincare for Oily, acne-prone skin?

Hi ladies -- I need your recommendations for a new skincare routine!

My skin is oily and acne-prone and lately I've been breaking out a lot.

I used to use proactive but it just wasn't clearing my breakouts like in the past and left my skin dry. When I used more moisturizer, it made me break out more.

Then I started using Neutrogena oil free acne wash and it hasn't been doing much other than  taking off my makeup.

I've been wondering about trying Clinique - but it is a bit pricier than drug store. If it works then I'll go for it - any good reviews?

Any advice appreciated!! TIA :)

Hi dear :)

I have saborea dermatitis which is in the family of your trouble (very oily, red skin)

first make sure your diet is proper, with oily skin your must avoid fried oily food and sweets (sorry :) ), lot of vegetables and drink water.

second, you need  to clean and moisturize your skin with professional skin care, products like Neutrogena, Clinique they all commercial brands and won't do. you need the products that professional cosmeticians use.

That's leads me to the first, healthy skin must be clean. Find professional cosmeticians (better with medical dermatological education and diplomas) and do proper facial cleanings. They will give you proper professional products that you can't buy in regular store.

And final is tension. Tension and sleep have lot with how our skin looks, so make sure you're dropping all the tension and have a good night sleep :)

GOOD LUCK !!!

I have oily, acne-prone skin, and used to always use the drugstore brans (Neutrogena, etc.)  I've been using Clinique for about 6 months now, and am really happy with it (especially the moisturizer--not greasy at all!  Get the gel, not the cream.)  I still have a break out once and a while, but no where near as bad.  Hope this is helpful!

I have tried everything under the sun and the only thing that helped was Accutane.  That was over 10 years ago and now that I am off birth control and not pregnant or nursing I am starting to have breakouts again.  So I am thinking of doing a lower dose to clear me up.  No offense to pp, but I used to have an eating disorder and wouldn't touch oily or sweet foods with a 10-foot pole and that is when my skin was the worst.

Accutane was the only thing that helped me too, I had to do two rounds of it, but definitely worth it for me.  And I have oily skin also which has now just become more of combo skin, I only use water to wash my face in the morning, if I use makeup I use a makeup wipe and then wash with Johnson & johnson purpose face bar.  And I use only oils to moisturize now, I order from garden of wisdom, their forum is great for recommendations from others.  Oils as a moisturizer stop your face from producing more oil.  Hope that helps!
