Do you make your own household products to save money?

Does anyone here make their own household products to save money?

I'm noticing the prices of laundry detergent, bath soap and dishwashing liquid skyrocketing and am starting to think maybe I should make my own items from scratch.

I make our laundry detergent. Google No-Grate laundry detergent. It's a liquid version.

I make some due to cost and an attempt to lessen the amount of harsh chemical exposure.  I use a lot less cleaning fluids on counters and floor; I don't have kids and no one is eating off our floor.  I make my own laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent.

I make (or have made):

Laundry detergent
Liquid hand soap
Oxyclean
Windex
Dishwasher detergent

that's it I think. It has saved us a lot of money, and I don't mind doing it usually because it lasts. I also plan to make baby food once we have kids by making a few batches and filling ice cube trays.

My husband and I made our own laundry soap for a bit. We used the receipe from the Duggers (19 and counting TLC show). It worked good & was more cost effective. We stopped using it when we got our new HE washer, he was very pyronid about putting anything non HE certified into the new machine.

I use oxi clean for a lot of stuff, great grout cleaner and stain remover and I use it for washing the floors too.

These are the items we make ourselves. This started about 3 months ago when I needed a lot of cleaning items at the store, and walked out spending $65.  We realized then that something needed to give.

Laundry Detergent
Liquid Hand soap (put into refillable pumps)
Hardwood floor cleaner
Floor cleaner for other floors

We've also started to use vinegar, baking soda, and rubbing alcohol for a lot of items we clean. Such as deodorizing the dishwasher and washing machine, cleaning the garbage disposal, and everyday cleaner for countertops. After spending $7 on Washing Machine Cleaner, and $5 on garbage disposal tabs, I knew there was a better way.

Sometimes I do, other times, I make my own to save money. I think that my dishwasher detergent is as good as others. I also use coupons to save money so I don't spend too much when I combine it with sales.

As good as it might sound, I rather spend the time with my husband.  I always make sure to buy when things are on sale or I have a coupon.

I've been making laundry detergent for quite some time, and have tried dishwasher det, shampoo, etc. Here's a good blog that has tons of ideas and recipes.

My husband and I make a few of these together.
