My mom's b-day is July 4th and she will be 60 next year. We want to take her somewhere fun. But not wanting to spend lots of money. We first thought about Vegas, but then again that is alot of money. We are not sure if we want to fly anywhere. We are thinking about going somewhere where we can drive too, maybe the most 5 hours away.

Any ideas on where to go that is 5 hours or closer to the cities. Something over the 4th, where they are fun attractions.

Twi-fans...who saw it? (Possible spoilers!)

I was so impressed! What a difference between the first and second movie...amazing what a budget increase will do. =) I think most people agree that this is the least favorite book of the 4, but the movie actually made it more interesting because they flew through the "depressed" parts so quick! I wasn't even grumbling about the little changes they made to the plot line here and there like I did after Twilight.

The only part I was sad about was the bedroom seen when they get back from Italy. I loved it when she woke up and swore she was still dreaming when he was sitting in her room...but they put most of those lines into the Italy/clock tower scene and eliminated the whole "I'm still dreaming" part. Other than that...it was even better than the book. Absolutely loved it.

How bout you??

Thanks to everyone for your T&Ps. My dad did have to have his leg amputated below the knee. They did the surgery on Thursday night. He's recovering well and seems in good spirits, aside from the hospital BS.

We could still use all the T&P's we can get for a smooth transition to this new life.

We got her last night and she is SOOOO good! Went to bed in her kennel at 10:30 woke up whining at midnight so I took her out to pee and she went straight to her kennel again and slept until my alarm went off at 5:45. She is SUCH a cuddler!! And so soft!! She is at work with me today and a co-worker was holding her and he told me he re-named her. To what? MINE he replied! lol

Thx to my pp, I just Googled the sofas I like at Becker and have a better idea where else I can go (and that I can't afford a few for sure!)

I'm going to stop by Schneidermans, where I've had good luck in the past and they actually have a lot of what I saw online with Becker. They "claim" their prices are fixed because they're so low, blah blah blah. I was there a while back for dh's new office and this is what the sales lady said.

How does haggling work? Do I say, I have $499 and will buy this couch or leave....(assuming the couch is only maybe 600) They don't want to lose the profit on a sale, but at the same time I've read over 70% of people wheel and deal on furniture prices these days.

I made a website using one of the justhost.com templates but it's not something I'm terribly proud of. I have 4 pages now but could get away with 3, so nothing terribly complicated.

wtf? re: furniture website for Becker

I've been able to easily search for a new couch online. It's such a time saver since we need a SMALL couch and we have a small budget! I found a few potential ones on Becker Furniture's website........ only to discver they share NO PRICES.

Now why on earth, when they're on the very far end of a very large metro area, would they not share PRICES?????????????????????? Even if it's like, the MSRP and they never charge that much. I'm so annoyed and do not want to waste time with a sales person over the phone, nor do I want to give them my personal information via a form for someone to call and email and mail me nonstop.

ALL their competition share prices?!!

Grrrrrr.

Windshield replacement recommendations

I need to get my windshield replaced. Any recommendations for somewhere to go? Any idea how much it usually costs? My deductible is $500. :(

ETA: If I have to drive somewhere, I prefer St. Paul or the east/south suburbs.

I really dislike working with mostly women.

There was a big blow up this morning in my office. Co-worker A came in to discuss the intern she is supervising and apparently felt like I was nick-picky and ganging up on her. Co-worker B heard all this (A was VERY loud) and came in to give her impression of the intern.

Somehow A and B ended up yelling at each other about the fact that A resents that she 'heard' that B and others called her a wedding clicque b itch 2.5 years ago while she was planning her wedding. A has been harboring resentment to B and a select group of the rest of us women in the office for this for almost 3 freaking years! She admitted that she decided not to include us in wedding events and other get togethers since that time based on what she 'heard" third-hand.

Good God. 3 years of resentment all because she wouldn't ask anyone what was really going on.

I'm guessing male co-workers don't do crap like this, right?
