Apparently I'm a horrible mom because I had sushi while pregnant and while BF.

Although - I got the okay from my OB - just make sure it's a good sushi place, not a sketchy one, and as always avoid fish with a lot of mercury in it.

Yes, what the others said. That poor nurse was misled.

It is fine to have pretty much any food while BF'ing, unless you are worried about allergies (like if someone in your family has a serious shellfish or peanut allergy, you might want to avoid those things).

I specifically asked my midwives about sushi while BFing, and they said eat away. Owen was born at 11pm and I was eating sushi by midnight :)

I've been eating sushi like nobody's business and DD hasn't sprouted a fin yet.

I had sushi while I was still in the hospital. DH ran out and got some. It never occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to have it once he was out of me.

The pedi told me at our 2 day visit that I have no restrictions on diet other than drugs and alcohol. He did say that babies can be sensitive to some foods, but they did not say anything about sushi.

So, when I was discharged from the hospital after having DD, the nurse told me I still couldn't have sushi (the good stuff...tuna, salmon, etc. but that I could have the cooked stuff, just like during pregnancy.) I was really looking forward to sushi after 10 months and was bummed to hear this. Any other sushi fans BFing and what is your take on this???
