If you're looking for a bread recipe, I saw this one the other day and it looks rather tasty. I haven't tried it yet though since my cast irons either are without lids or super freaking huge. I need a regular size one with a lid!

We seriously hit the baby jackpot today.

First, my mom called this afternoon and offered to buy us the lazboy rocker/recliner for the nursery. Most of you are somewhat familiar with our not so great relationship so this was completely unexpected. But we are very grateful. And still a little shocked.

Then, we drove to Lafayette to pick up the crib from my aunt that she's letting us borrow. Her twins are now 5 so she's got 2 of everything. While we were there, she sent us home with:

a crib mattress
a convertible carseat
a booster seat
a diaper bag
a Medela breast pump (!)

And she's going to find her pack n play and one of her highchairs for us too! To say I am excited right now is an understatement.

ETA: I forgot to add that she also informed me that she would be throwing me a shower in January. =) So now I have 2 showers scheduled!

In case you haven't heard yet, Judge Duvall ruled in favor of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit involving MRGO (Mississippi River Gulf Outlet). Last year, the Judge ruled that the Army Corps of Engineers was immune from suit for the levee breaches because of a 1928 statute providing immunity for flood prevention. In his 150+ page decision, the Judge held the ACE "grossly negligent" in its inaction to fix the MRGO problems after they admitted to them in 1988.

Of course this will be appealed to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and eventually to the U.S. Supreme Court. But it's a great victory and a monumental moment for New Orleans. This is/was the biggest piece of litigation in U.S. history.

She just delivered her, she was 1 pound and 14 inches. Obviously they are both inconsolable right now. Thankfully her labor didn't last longer, she was induced at 4pm yesterday. Please remember little Maggie and her parents tonight.

I was supposed to be coming down to the BR today to go to a wedding. The reception is going to be at the Old State Capital bldg. so I was really looking forward to it. But Elise has run fever and cried all night, I'm going on like 2 hours of sleep so not only would I not enjoy going to a wedding without her (she was going to stay in Denham at my brother's) it probably wouldn't be a good idea for me to drive that far on so little sleep.

Sucks. That's life for ya, though!

Just a quick little vent. So one of my friends just found out she was pregnant and I'm very happy for her and her DH. However, I had picked out my kids names years ago (even though DH and I won't be trying for another year or so) and she knew this. Today, I decided to check in on her and see how she was doing and if she'd picked out names and what do you know? She's stole the one I've wanted for a little girl for so long..I am quite ticked. Am I being ridiculous or do I have something to stand on? Sorry for the vent!!!

I'm really needy this evening apparently...

I guess the damaged part really would bother me though. I offered $75 and I'm going to see what she says and go see it before I decide.

I guess what drew me to it was that it was like a buffet but it had the glass doors so I could show my china off. I haven't seen anything like that yet.

Off to go stalk some furniture websites and see what I can find now...

KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better,even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
Put the junk mail in the garbage can under the
table,
And notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
On the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
Since I'm going to be near the mailbox
When I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
And see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
So I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking

I'm going to look for my checks,
But first I need to push the Pepsi aside
So that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Pepsi is getting warm,
And I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
A vase of flowers on the counter
Catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Pepsi on the counter
and
Discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
But first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
Fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
But I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
So I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
But first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
But quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
Get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
Remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
The car isn't washed
The bills aren't paid
There is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
The flowers don't have enough water,
There is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
And I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
And I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
And I'll try to get some help for it,
But first I'll check my e-mail...

I'm so housewife now...I got giddy when I saw sweet potatoes at W/D for 33 cents/lb. I'm also scouring all of the grocery ads for a game plan to grocery shop on the cheap for T-day dinner! What's wrong with me?

Oh, and I bought my first ever fabric for my first ever sewing project. I hope my machine is nice to me. :)

Rough need T&P for BR friends

Yesterday two of my dear friends suffered enormous tragidies (sp?).
My friend "H"'s BIL had a heart attack and died, he's my age. He had a 4 year old daughter. They think it was a heart attack but won't know for sure till the autopsy is performed.
The other are my friends "B&P", "P" was pregnant and lost the baby at 28 weeks. I don't have any more details, but I know the nursery was done. This was their first.

So please keep them in your thoughts and prayers today. Also if you can think of anything I can do for them from up here I'm open to ideas. Otherwise I'm sending a muffin basket to them both.

Ugh, I think my dad found out :/

At our early gender u/s I had a couple weeks ago, my dad said he wanted to be surprised on what we were having, if possible. I've tried my BEST to say "they," "it" or "the baby." Well, I just sent him our new u/s pics taking out the girl one and he writes back "She looks great." I'm hoping it was just term used like "they" or whatever and that somehow he didn't find out. To be honest, it's been so hard to tell him anything in fear I may slip. lol
