So far DH is going to his families for Thankgiving & I to my families....yep issues. I wish he would come with me to mine or we could do both but I dont see that happening.

Christmas will be hanging with his family.

Dissertation Study on Interracial Marriage

I am NOT a solicitor nor am I a vendor.
I am an old Knottie/Nestie who is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology. I am conducting my doctoral dissertation study on marital satisfaction in interracially married couples. Knowing the Knottie/Nestie community, I am hoping to receive some volunteers through advertising on the boards.

What is the purpose of this study?

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between interactional styles, religious beliefs, and social support on interracial marriage satisfaction. This study is an effort to better understand the experience of social support in interracial marriages and the impact it has on the satisfaction of the married partners.

Who can participate?

I am looking for volunteers to participate in this study. At this time, the study is limited to legally married, heterosexual, interracial couples. The interracial pairings that this study is specifically looking at are Black/White (with their long history of interracial coupling) and Asian/White (the fastest growing group of interracial marriages).

Volunteers must meet the following requirements to participate:

Must currently be in an interracial marriage. This study focuses on Black/White and Asian/White couples.
You must have been married for at least one year.
Both partners must be 18 years of age or older.
Both partners must speak fluent English.
Both partners must reside in the US.

What will be asked of me as a participant?

In order to carry out this study, volunteers will be asked to fill out a series of questionnaires that will take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete. These questionnaires ask questions about interaction, religion, social support, and relationship satisfaction. Both the husband and the wife must fill out the questionnaires and are asked to do so separately. Participants are asked to refrain from discussing the questionnaire until both partners have completed the study. Survey responses will be kept confidential and participants may choose to refrain from providing any identifying information.

How do I volunteer? Who do I contact?

To volunteer, please send an email to

You will receive a response asking some preliminary questions to ensure you and your spouse meet the requirements for participating in the study. If so, you will be given an ID code for you and your spouse, and the option to complete either an online questionnaire or have the questionnaire mailed to you. Questionnaire information and details of participating in the study will be provided to those that volunteer

What do I gain from volunteering?

While there are no individual benefits from participating in this study, your involvment will assist in deepening scientific understanding of factors that affect satisfaction in interracial marriages. Additionally, upon completion of the questionnaires, you may choose to enter into a drawing for one of two $50 gift certificates to either Target or Crate and Barrel. This drawing will be open to all participants in this study and is voluntary.

Calling all "Crazy Cat Ladies!" National Feral Cat Day is fast approaching and we need your help to spread awareness of feral cats in Utah!

National Feral Cat Day

We need your help to make it a success!

National Feral Cat Day (NFCD) is a day dedicated to spreading awareness of feral cats all over the country. It's also a day committed to educating the public on important programs like Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR). TNR is an effective system of trapping feral cats, spaying or neutering them, and then releasing them back into their colonies. This system helps keep ferals healthy, stops overpopulation, and in turn, decreases shelter intake and unnecessary euthanasia.

Here in Utah, we're taking National Feral Cat Day one step further!

We want to spread the message that EVERYONE is capable of helping feral cats, not just "Crazy Cat Ladies" In fact, you need not be "Crazy" or even a "Lady". Regardless of age or gender, you can help spread awareness of ferals in Utah. If you've ever fostered a homeless cat, took in a stray, or fed a feral (or 10!), we invite you to join our "Crazy Cat Lady" Club!

XTERRA K9 Challenge!

With proceeds benefiting No More Homeless Pets in Utah

A 20-yard sprint, a speed-crawl through a tunnel, a bounding leap over a 2-foot high block, a hairpin turn into a set of mixed sized step-overs, another cutting turn to a teeter-totter, up, over, one last jump, then a 15-yard sprint to the finish.

This is the XTERRA K9 Challenge, presented by John Paul Pet - a timed race with owner-dog teams competing against the clock on a combined trail run obstacle course. Completing the challenge will take anywhere from 20 seconds to one minute, and it's not limited to highly trained or specialized dogs so all are welcome to participate in this "made for fun" event.

When: Friday, Sept. 25th @ 4:00 PM (training course opens at 2:00 PM)
Where: 25th Street Park, Downtown Ogden, UT

It's all FREE! Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will go directly to No More Homeless Pets in Utah!

All entries will receive a t-shirt, doggie bandana, a "dog tag" medal and John Paul Pet samples.

Grand Prize: John Paul Pet Product Package - Shampoo, Conditioner, Conditioning Spray and a variety of Pet Wipes.
Runner-Up Prizes (3): John Paul Pet 3-Pack (Shampoo, Conditioner, Wipe) - Oatmeal, Tea Tree and Super Bright.

No training or certification is necessary, but owners must show proof of dog's current vaccinations. Bring your family and your pet and give it a go. And don't forget the pooper scoopers.

Is Stansbury Park nice? Is there shopping/mall? How far from SLC? Anyway that I could live on the west side of SLC and commute (husband) to Dugway? Heard anything bad about the chemical testing? I've asked before, but now it's serious. We got word that the company has to move from Tucson to Dugway in one year. (hubby military contractor) I'd like to know what I'm in for with real estate, where to live, life, etc. ANTHING that any of you ladies can give me...much, much appreciated. I've been surfing the net, it's kinda hard. Websites also appreciated. Thx.
