Hi ladies. Thinking of meeting some girlfriends in Louisville one Saturday for some shopping (i'm in nashville, they are in Columbus, OH). Any thoughts on where we should go? We would want to get a hotel nearby. I'll have my 6 month old with me. Basically just want to shop, grab a bite to eat and then drink wine in our hotel room while we catch up. Thanks!

Hi there. I know I'm not suppose to post things if youre trying to sell them but I'm not selling anything, just offering an opportunity.

I am a professional photographer. The studio I own has been in business for over 40 years. Our specialties are models, portraits, headshots, and weddings.

I just took over the business from my dad who has had heart attacks, breast cancer and now knee problems all in the last few years.... So he wanted to go ahead and change ownership to me so I can continue the business.

I love maternity and newborn portraits. It's quickly becoming a passion of mine. The only problem is I only have a few examples because he built his studio with models and weddings. This is a department I really want to work on.

So I am offering a session and a favorite photo to women between 7 and 8 months and newborns under one month. We can have a phone consulation and then you can come to our studio and have a complimentary session with me. Then I will post them online so you can view them and send the photos to family and friends. Also for your time I will give you a 5x7 of your choice.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, I'm not sure where to start and I love being on The Knot and talking about my wonderful Mike and I saw this and thought I would try it.

I just wanted to introduce myself. I was a knottie until i got married this june and decided to move over to the Nest.

I am originally from Louisville, but went to UK, met H, and now we live in Lexington. I am in law school and H is in sales. We have a dog and a cat that are basically our children and are in the process of trying to sell our home quickly so we can put a bid on our dream home (so if you know anyone, our house is fabulous, haha!)

help with visit to Kentucky

My friend and I are coming to Kentucky this weekend. Here's is our rough plan:

Friday night - Louisville, staying on 3rd street downtown
Saturday - Jim Beam and Maker's mark tours, Maybe one or two winery stops (between Bardstown and Lexington), then horseback riding (just south of Lexington) and on to Lexington. Staying just outside the city.

Saturday -
morning at Kentucky horse pack, back to Lousiville airport by 2pm

We're only there for a really short time, so we're tying to pack a lot in. Is there anything we've missed that we really should check out? Any scenic drives that we can do along our route?

Also, any reccomendations for reasonably priced (under $20 pp for dinner) places to eat? Good bars (not clubby, we prefer pubs and causal spots)?

Dissertation Study on Interracial Marriage

I am NOT a solicitor nor am I a vendor.
I am an old Knottie/Nestie who is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology. I am conducting my doctoral dissertation study on marital satisfaction in interracially married couples. Knowing the Knottie/Nestie community, I am hoping to receive some volunteers through advertising on the boards.

What is the purpose of this study?

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between interactional styles, religious beliefs, and social support on interracial marriage satisfaction. This study is an effort to better understand the experience of social support in interracial marriages and the impact it has on the satisfaction of the married partners.

Who can participate?

I am looking for volunteers to participate in this study. At this time, the study is limited to legally married, heterosexual, interracial couples. The interracial pairings that this study is specifically looking at are Black/White (with their long history of interracial coupling) and Asian/White (the fastest growing group of interracial marriages).

Volunteers must meet the following requirements to participate:

Must currently be in an interracial marriage. This study focuses on Black/White and Asian/White couples.
You must have been married for at least one year.
Both partners must be 18 years of age or older.
Both partners must speak fluent English.
Both partners must reside in the US.

What will be asked of me as a participant?

In order to carry out this study, volunteers will be asked to fill out a series of questionnaires that will take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete. These questionnaires ask questions about interaction, religion, social support, and relationship satisfaction. Both the husband and the wife must fill out the questionnaires and are asked to do so separately. Participants are asked to refrain from discussing the questionnaire until both partners have completed the study. Survey responses will be kept confidential and participants may choose to refrain from providing any identifying information.

How do I volunteer? Who do I contact?

You will receive a response asking some preliminary questions to ensure you and your spouse meet the requirements for participating in the study. If so, you will be given an ID code for you and your spouse, and the option to complete either an online questionnaire or have the questionnaire mailed to you. What do I gain from volunteering?

While there are no individual benefits from participating in this study, your involvment will assist in deepening scientific understanding of factors that affect satisfaction in interracial marriages. Additionally, upon completion of the questionnaires, you may choose to enter into a drawing for one of two $50 gift certificates to either Target or Crate and Barrel. This drawing will be open to all participants in this study and is voluntary.

I just moved to the east end of Louisville from Washington, DC (my husband is in the military and he was transferred here) and don't know anyone here yet. I'm trying to find a good nail salon as well as a good spa for massages. I'm afraid to try a nail salon without a recommendation because I know so many people who got bad infections after manicures. Does anyone have a good recommendation for where to go? I'd appreciate the advice.

Newbie Moving to Bowling Green

Hello all! I'm new to the Nest (just got married back in May), and my DH and I are set to move back to Kentucky, to Bowling Green. We're from the northern part of the state originally, so neither of us is familiar with the BG area.

Anyone have any advice on good parts of town to live and good schools? We're looking to buy a house so that in a couple of years we'll be set to start having kids. Also any real estate agent recommendations? We go down next month to take a house hunting trip, and I'd like to have someone lined up to work with within a week or so.
