Does anyone know where one can take Sign Language classes?

Anyone know where to learn Bosnian or Photoshop in So.Co.?

My MIL was interested in learning Bosnian, DH and I were thinking maybe we could set up some classes for her for Christmas. I just checked Meramec's site and they don't offer it (heck they offer Arabic, I would've thought they'd offer Bosnian since we have a growing Bosnian community, but guess not). Anyone have any other ideas of where to check?

Also, she really likes photo editing, likes doing all of the "fun" stuff (like layering, making only certain areas have color, etc). Are there any places that offer Photoshop classes? I know you can buy programs/books that will teach you how to use it, but any real classes?

Background: I am about to finish up my first semester as an adjunct Chemistry lab instructor at a local community college.

After class last Thursday, one of my students abruptly turned around on his way out the door and asked if I will be teaching any of the more advanced Chem labs next semester.Yay for a complement!

I have been so freaked out all semester that I am scarring these students that to have a student indicate he would take another class with me helped boost my confidence. Thank goodness I must be doing at least a little something right. Sad to say, even though I will be teaching there again next semester, I am not qualified to teach anything higher. But he still asked!

Any small business owners here?

A real job that's in his field of specialty! He starts tomorrow! It's been over a year since he worked full time in his field. This job pays about 15K less than his previous job which means I can't be a SAHW like before. Not that I would have now because I love my teaching job, but it would be nice if I could get more hours so I can quit my pharmacy job.

Time for house hunting so we can move out of the IL's basement.

It's inevitable no matter how well one plans something will go wrong on the wedding day. It's hard for me to choose just one, but I am going to say my blusher veil and the pesky wind. My wedding was outside and my veil would not stay put. See below picture of me, A.K.A. the flying nun. Lol.

Sunday night I decided for my friend's shower I want to get a diaper cake decorated w/ a bunch of baby item. I am in charge of coming up w/ a game, so I think I'll set it out as a decoration & then take it away & see how many item on the cake people can name. The person w/ the most wins a prize.

Since I only thought of this last night, I haven't checked out where I can get a diaper cake. Anyone know? I am not crafty, my art still looks like a 2nd grader did it, so I really don't want to make it myself.

Cleaning Carpets - Review

I decided after calling around to go with E & B

Carpet cleaning, took 45 minutes to clean a family room and hallway.

What I liked:

I was caught off guard with the customer service when I called to get a quote and schedule a time for them to come out. The woman was so friendly and flexible when arranging a time for them to come out - I was very impressed.
They were able to schedule an appointment that "same" week vs waiting several weeks like other companies.
They sent out two guys to clean the carpets instead of one.
The two guys they sent out were friendly, and did a good job.
They did not try to up-sell me on any other services or products.

What I didn't like:

They were scheduled to come at 9, showed up at 9:15ish.
They weren't able to get all the pet stains out. Which s-u-c-k-s but understandable.
I had to move my own furniture - which can be difficult.

Overall, I would use them again.

Working with aggressive Autistic Children

We have a few high aggressive children in our classroom. I just found out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago. I got my hair grabbed by this student that I was not even working with last Thursday.. Very hard with both of his hands. He pulled me out of my chair and I dropped to the ground. I just kept putting my hands on top of his so he could not pull, but it was still very painful. I was also trying to block my stomach as I have seen him kick while doing the pulling. I was in tears and very scared and finally some other Teachers came over to help me out. But only one of them came over and asked if I was ok and made sure my head was not bleeding. I really do not feel comfortable being around this student with me being pregnant. It was very stressful for me and I am pretty scared to be honest. I do not even feel comfortable being around him with his behaviors and the fact that I am pregnant. Luckily he did not kick me or anything, but I just do not want to be put in that same situation. The problem is I have asked for a transfer and my boss has not gotten back to me. Should I go above him and send the request to a higher up person. Last year this student broke another teachers back as he flipped her over a table. I am very afraid for my baby. Is there any laws that protect my saftey and the well being of the baby?

Keeping your "pee stick"

One of my good friends from college is pregnant, and also legitimately crazy. She has been keeping a blog about her pregnancy, and today while I was reading it, she mentioned that she kept her "pee stick" (her words, not mine). This grossed me out, but what grossed me out even more, is she left the 16 week old test on her coffee table so her husband's friend would find it - that was her idea of telling the friend that they are expecting. She went on to say that she has a pre-baby book and is planning on keeping the test in there for her child to see it some day.

I can understand keeping sonograms and ultrasounds and photos to share with others. But not the at home pregnancy test. Am I the weird one, or is it normal to keep your pregnancy test?

H1N1 Pregnancy Vaccination Day

My OB (with Wash U) still doesn't have the vaccine in yet, but she told me that St. John's is doing a special vaccination day just for pregnant women.

You need to register in order to get scheduled, I thought I'd pass it along for anyone else who needs vaccination.
