I am absolutely amazed at the progress made with OT for my son!

OT services have been in place for about 3 weeks now and we are doing daily "heavy work" with Daniel, who had several autistic markers at his first assessment in May. His OT eval was done about 5 weeks ago and was such an eye opener, really pointing out sensory processing disorder as a contributing factor to a lot of his behaviors. Services have started and seems to be making such a difference! He is less withdrawn, more engaged, MAKING AWESOME EYE CONTACT and his verbal abilities seem to be progressing daily! MH and I are just THRILLED and amazed. We are working diligently with him (we even purchased him a weighted vest) and it is paying off. It's like a light switch went on.

I thank God everyday for EI and now especially for the OT working with Daniel!!! :)

Since when is it acceptable to refer to children in this way? Can you imagine if Gabe was referred to as *the mildly autistic child*

So, I don't have a daughter so maybe I would think differently if I did. HOwever, I noticed that almost everyone I know who has a girl calls her princess. I think that is just so cheesy. One of my friends recently had a little girl and every status on FB is ... sitting with my little princess, Our little princess is sleeping. She's got princess on onesies on her wall in her room. The terms just makes me think of a spoiled little girl. lol. Again, if I had a girl I may be on the princess bandwagon.

I never could quite do it with Addie and we ended up co-sleeping for months and now she is just an "okay" sleeper.

With Daniel there are just times he has to cry and you know he is asleep within five minutes. Our ped is already telling us to do it but I don't always listen to this particular doc especially b/c I feel she is very "textbook". Right now we are holding and rocking him....he is teething and wakeful at four am (which is when the ped says to do CIO). But just now I knew he needed to sleep so I let him cry in his swing and he was out within minutes.

What did you do? TIA

My dad is dying

Since his stroke this past August, he has gone down hill. He was taken to the ER 3:30 this morning. His blood pressure dropped under 80, his heart rate is lowering and as of noon today, his kidneys have started to shut down. The dr. told us that if anyone wanted to say goodbye, this is the time to do it. My sister is flying up from florida in the morning. My other sister & I were with him today just to comfort him, then we would walk outside and cry. We don't know how long he has now. I just pray that he goes peacefully and know that we love him

So i posted the other day I got a free issue of Parenting Mag. I didnt sign up for it and I wouldnt want it anyway, so I emailed them to ask them how I got it. They said something I bought signed me up for it. So i told them to cancel it, they said ok. As an afterthought, I emailed them again and said I wanted to confirm I was not being charged for this. I just got an email saying they would now credit my account $15. Um, it's scary that I didn't know that I got charged for this, and how I got charged for this, and that if I hadn't pursued it, they would have charged me for this stupid mag, even after canceling it!

So...I am glad I followd up but Now i have to figure out what I bought or how this happened!!!!

I hate when the networks do this. I thought the whole interview was tonight. Guess its just the last 15 or 10 minutes instead. I must have missed the long interview- not that it matters she keeps saying the same thing on each show she goes on so I know what she's gonna say.

But ugh, I hate these teasers the networks play. The only reason I want to watch is I saw a commercial and it shows her husband is in it too- I want to see that because I swear I have never seen that man talk.

When I was little my mom never wrapped the gifts from Santa. She would just put the unopened toys under the tree (in their boxes, of course) so that when we got up we saw everything we got without having to open anything. I remember peeking around the corner and seeing all the new toys and being giddy.

How are you doing it with your child? Is it the same or different than what your parents did when you were a child?

I am so freggin sick of stores that make it impossible to shop in. I have a double stroller...the slimmest side by side out there. I can get through doorways..yet I can't get through most stores without knocking stuff over.

I was just in Marshalls and could not get through ANY of the aisles...there was crap everywhere..there aisles are barely wide enough for me to walk through without hitting stuff let alone a double or even a single stroller. Don't get me started on the kids or toys section. I was so aggrevated when I couldn't even go through the store without backing in and out of aisles just to get from one side to the other.

Then I get to the maze of a line..which I really think is a major fire hazard. They make it so you can't get out...again it's super narrow and my curious daughter would knock it all down.

I approach a manager about it and she tells me well we have alot to sell..I tell her I have alot of money to spend but you aren't making it easy for anyone to shop in here. Needless to say I left and will not go back..it's not worth it.

I also plan on calling the local fire marshall...there is no way their checkout line set up is safe.

Side affect of the holiday season

My husband starts to notice all the things around the house that need to get done. I was saying that I hated our bathroom while I was cleaning it (stupidly we did not re-do them when we renovated and they are the original bathrooms) and he says how they both really need to get painted and blah blah blah.

I've been saying that for a year and 3 months but whatever. I guess having a house full of people all holiday season long has put a spark under hisass. To bad I don't think the flame is high enough.

does anyone else have to wrestle their toddler on the changer??

OMG. i'm going to lose it with trevor. he is a total nightmare to change and dress lately. he twists and turns the second i get him on the changing table. then he wants to stand up and touch his letters (we have his name hanging over the changer). i'm so afraid i'm going to hurt him or he's going to fall off, let alone the fact that it's SO annoying trying to change or dress him!! the worst is he thinks it's FUNNY.

i've tried everything. yelling, talking calmly, not saying anything-just keeping him pinned down. nothing works. he continues to do it and laugh. any suggestions?? i'm at my wits end.

i have been waiting for the moment to sign alexa up for dance class..the poor kid is just short of begging for it now..lol...i finally found a great place that you dont need to be potty trained for...BUT, they only have 2 classes..one is thursday morning at 10..but that wont work, since she has school that day..and saturday at 9....now, she usually sleeps till 8ish..sometimes later, sometimes earlier..id probably have to wake her to get her all ready, and prettied up for class..has to wear her hair a certain way, dress a certain way, etc...i want to do it..but when i have my surgery i wont be able to take her for a whole month..my husband would...he's not thrilled about it being that early but would if i really wanted him too...so..what would you do? do it now and go at a time that isn't the most convenient? or wait till next october when the next class begins...hmmm?

the recital is in june..so it would be now till june...it started already though..in october..
