I am moving to the Aiken area soon (26th). My husband starts work in Aiken on the 21st and we'll be in a hotel until the following weekend when we'll leave SC, drive to Madison, AL pack up a moving truck and move everything to SC in an apartment or rental home I hope to find the week of the 21st. Does anyone in/from SC have any advice for me on area, apartments, churches (I am a christian. Denomination isn't as important to me as Christ. That being said I am a long time member of a Southern Baptist Church and I'd like to be at a church that supports IMB Missionaries as my brother and sis-in-law are missionaries, or will be, with the IMB - Southern Baptist), local activities, restaurants, stores, outdoors? I've been looking at Apts. online in North Augusta and Augusta as well. Should I drop any of these locations right off the bat? Thanks for your much appreciated advice!

Can you rec'd a cute place for lunch? Nothing fancy, like a good deli/restaurant that has outside eating in downtown...we are going to stop in G'ville for lunch on our way back from Knoxville and we'll have my little dog with us and I don't like leaving her in the car while we eat.

Hey ladies, I'm not sure that I'll be able to talk DH into seeing New Moon with me. I won't be here opening night, but I was hoping to go see it on the 22nd, maybe a matinee?

Banking question for Upstate ladies

My husband and I currently have almost all of our money in a money market account with Bank of America, earning about .9 % interest. We also have a small amount in a 3 month CD at 1.05%. Is anyone earning better rates than this? I want to make sure my money is earning as much as possible, but also want to make sure it is easily accessible.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have heard way better things about Summerville Medical Center vs. Trident. I want to deliever at Summerville, but I really want to use a Midwife. Teh practice I am with, Lowcountry Weman's Specialist, says they deliever at both but from what I have heard they only deliever indcutions and schedule labors at Summerville at all other times they send you to Trident. I know I could labor at home and hopefully be far enough along so they won't send me there, or just refuse to leave and go but it would be nice to just go ahead and have a Midwife that would deliever there. Anyone know a good group?

we're looking to rent a house there this summer and I'm just curious about whether there are any 'bad' locations (since it is only a few blocks deep) or anything else to look out for? right now availability is good for a lot of places on vrbo and we want to book early. Is cameron blvd in the 20s/30s/40s pretty good? are there limited beach access point that we might want to be near (we'll have 11 month old twins & all their gear with us) to make the walk quicker/easier? do most houses have driveways/parking?

Also- I know Wild Dunes is a whole section of the island, if we see something in there, how to know if it is good location close to the beach?

We went to St. James on Sunday :) We really liked it, and liked the priest. We went to the 11 AM service, and there weren't many people there our age, but there were 5 babies baptized at the 9AM service so we think many probably went to that service on Sunday. We'll definitely be back :)

OMG! I can't wait to tell Nicholas this story! It is my favorite story when DH was a kid. So he wanted to be Batman for Halloween. One day he just knew when he got home from school his costume would be waiting for him. He gets off the school bus and rushes home all excited. Runs into the house, rushes to his room and sees on his bed- A Howdy Doody Mask. Not Batman, Howdy Doody. So he thinks "oh this must be my brother's costume (not even a costume just the stupid mask)". Everyone's like "Uh no that's your Costume". DH boycotted Halloween that year. The funny part is me picturing him running home and going from "Yay!" to "WTF?!" in 2 seconds flat afterseeing the HD mask.

I said to DH, "Howdy Doody? If there were no more Batmans left, couldnt they at least got you another Superhero? Even AquaMan would be better than Howdy Doody?"

Hi! I thought I would post on the SC board in hopes that some of you may have shopped at the PB Outlet in Gaffney. My husband and I are on the tail end of some major renovations in our house so now the fun stuff begins...decorating! For those of you that have been to the store, do you think it's worth a 3 hour drive? We are in desperate need of rugs and furniture for our living room. TIA!

Ladies,

My husband and I are getting ready to celebrate our first anniversary. Since getting married, we have relocated to the Charleston area. The bakery where we got our original wedding cake in Arlington, VA gave us a free anniversary cake as part of our package. Since we are no longer living there, we will not be able to take advantage of that. All of that being said, I'd like to order a very small cake locally to enjoy on our first wedding anniversary.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get a tasty, simple, and relatively inexpensive cake?
