I got married a year and a half ago and I was on the knot a lot back then. I am new to the nest and I have a question. Everyone has a number of points based on their posts, but despite scouring the site, I cannot find any explanation of these points! Can anyone tell me about them or direct me to the explanations? How do you get points? Are different posts worth different points? What do you do with your points? What is the point of points? TIA!

Hey all! I am hoping to get some solid recommendations on a new OB. I am about halfway through my 2nd pregnancy and am currently seeing a physician at Birmingham OB/GYN at St. Vincents. I had complications with my 1st pregnancy and it looks like I will have some complications with this bean as well. I have been LESS than satisfied with the care I have received by the OBs, RNs and the ER staff. I am new to the area and don't have a clue where to look for a new a doc. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

How was everyone's weekend? Ours was great. It always so hard to go back to real life after a great weekend. Did anyone do anything fun for Halloween or dress up. We went as Heidi and Wilson from home improvement. To be a very last minute costume, I thought it turned out pretty cute. There are pics in my blog if anyone is interested. Anyone do anything fun?

H and I went to B'ham because my niece was going to be spending time with my aunt and uncle for an early birthday celebration. She'll be 4 next week and we took her to the Galleria for her first mall trip and she was just in awe of everything. She really liked the toy store, the disney store, and the carousel, and we took her to Build-A-Bear and she was so fascinated by the sounds you can put in the bears..lol. We stopped at JCP on the way to the cars and thanks to my mom she also went home with 2 dresses, and purse #2 of the day.

Then we took her back to the house and had cookies, cake, and ice cream and then it was time for her to go home. I wish they lived closer so we could see her more often but my aunt and uncle are going to try and get her the week before Thanksgiving and Christmas.

After that we watched the abysmal AU game (still proud to be a tiger fan though) and yesterday we drove by 2 houses I saw online just to do it.

Hi girls! I wanted to join in on all the fun so I thought I'd let you get to know me a little! My name is Bethany and I am currently 12 weeks pregnant for a surprise sibling for Peyton!

Peyton was born August 2008 after some intensive fertility treatments. I was very fortunate to have an easy pregnancy and a healthy baby! We were talking about starting back to the ART Program when I got pregnant on my own this time around!

While we've had 8 weeks or so to digest the big news we're still reeling at the thought of having another one already! It's a big challenge but one we're excited about!

My husband and I met in Auburn and moved to Birmingham about 4 1/2 years ago. I look forward to getting to know you girls in the coming months!

I live in AU and I can recycle almost everything at the recycling center EXCEPT for them, and I really don't want to throw them all out. Dissertation Study on Interracial Marriage

I am NOT a solicitor nor am I a vendor.
I am an old Knottie/Nestie who is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology. I am conducting my doctoral dissertation study on marital satisfaction in interracially married couples. Knowing the Knottie/Nestie community, I am hoping to receive some volunteers through advertising on the boards.

What is the purpose of this study?

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between interactional styles, religious beliefs, and social support on interracial marriage satisfaction. This study is an effort to better understand the experience of social support in interracial marriages and the impact it has on the satisfaction of the married partners.

Who can participate?

I am looking for volunteers to participate in this study. At this time, the study is limited to legally married, heterosexual, interracial couples. The interracial pairings that this study is specifically looking at are Black/White (with their long history of interracial coupling) and Asian/White (the fastest growing group of interracial marriages).

Volunteers must meet the following requirements to participate:

Must currently be in an interracial marriage. This study focuses on Black/White and Asian/White couples.
You must have been married for at least one year.
Both partners must be 18 years of age or older.
Both partners must speak fluent English.
Both partners must reside in the US.

What will be asked of me as a participant?

In order to carry out this study, volunteers will be asked to fill out a series of questionnaires that will take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete. These questionnaires ask questions about interaction, religion, social support, and relationship satisfaction. Both the husband and the wife must fill out the questionnaires and are asked to do so separately. Participants are asked to refrain from discussing the questionnaire until both partners have completed the study. Survey responses will be kept confidential and participants may choose to refrain from providing any identifying information.

How do I volunteer? Who do I contact?

To volunteer, please send an email to

You will receive a response asking some preliminary questions to ensure you and your spouse meet the requirements for participating in the study. If so, you will be given an ID code for you and your spouse, and the option to complete either an online questionnaire or have the questionnaire mailed to you. Questionnaire information and details of participating in the study will be provided to those that volunteer

What do I gain from volunteering?

While there are no individual benefits from participating in this study, your involvment will assist in deepening scientific understanding of factors that affect satisfaction in interracial marriages. Additionally, upon completion of the questionnaires, you may choose to enter into a drawing for one of two $50 gift certificates to either Target or Crate and Barrel. This drawing will be open to all participants in this study and is voluntary.

Found pug in Tuscaloosa

It's been a few years since I've been on this site, but I'm trying everything I can.

Bottom line...

Found 10/7/2009 in Tuscaloosa - black, female, pug, still a puppy. No collar. No markings. No microchip or tattoo. I've posted this on every lost dog website I found and sent notice to all of the local animal shelters.

Long story...

Last night, a black female pug wandered onto our porch. I assumed it was another instance of a neighbor dog sneaking out and going for a stroll -- happens quite a bit with the smaller dogs in my area. I picked her up and headed in the direction she came, and there was a group of people milling about talking about a lost dog. Unfortunately, they weren't looking for this pug, rather the dog in question got spooked by the pug and ran off. I didn't want to let her loose at night, so we brought her in and planned to put up flyers around the apartment complex and take her for a microchip scan today. No microchip. No tattoos. No word from anyone in the complex missing her.

It's only been a day, but it won't be long before I'll pass her along to a friendly owner. She's cute, but so far my 8 year-old shepard mix isn't too keen on a puppy in the house, and it's a bit scary to have a puppy the size of her chew toys! All-in-all, she's very well-behaved. With her demeanor and weight, we think she's only recently been lost/abandoned. She'll quietly sit beside me at my desk or outside. Her only vice is that she'll jump up onto a couch or bed if she can get closer to me -- and it hasn't even been 24 hours yet! In our house, that's only a vice because we lost our Pedi-paw filer (I'm convinced the shepard hid it), and we've got leather furniture.

The cornbread here is yellow & sweet. I grew up eating white & more on the side of salty. And I don't know a single person down here who makes chicken & dumplins. Mom, Grandma, etc. are long out of practice and never wrote down their recipes, of course! Thought I'd check here.

I used to post on the AL boards awhile back. I'm from AL, went to school at UA, and moved North. DH and I got married in Tuscaloosa in 2008.

Anyways, we're going to visit my family the weekend of the Ole Miss game and we're looking for tickets. Does anyone know anybody who's trying to sell their tickets? Ideally we need 5 but we'll take as many as we can find. Thanks!
