I just heard on the radio that you're supposed to tip your daycare provider 2 weeks of salary around the holidays. I'd never heard that before. Is that common? Last year we gave a $50 gc to each of the two providers and they seemed happy with it. But I don't know what other people did.

I thrive on audio books. I'm in the car 1 hour a day, more if I'm going to one of my other offices (like 2.5-3.5 hours each way) I listen to them while I'm cleaning, I listen to them when I feel lonely and I don't want to run up my cell phone bill.

Problem is, I don't have a resource for new books. I have the entire Stephen King collection, most of Dean Koontz. I've listened to every Harry Potter book a million times, all three Dan Brown books, a handful of Neil Gayman, although I only like his kids' books. The adult ones are odd. I've listened to Jodi Picoult, John Grisham (even though I've read every one of his books), and even tried Janet Evanovich, although I couldn't stand her. Oh, and while I'm just so-so on David Baldacci, listening to his books really showed me what a horrible author he is.

So do you have a resource for finding new authors? I'm open for fiction, non-fiction, whatever. I just want a good writer with something interesting to listen to. I'll even listen to the entire Bible if anyone can rec a good reader.

can someone buy me a pg test?

I have no friends where I currently live. So like a loser I posted an ad on Craigslist just looking for some people to hang out with. I've met a couple of girls this way but neither friendship ended up sticking.

Anyway, a girl e-mailed me back earlier this week. Honestly, I debated about whether or not I should answer because she had e-mailed me once before and I remembered that she was an actress. She sent a picture and she was very pretty. Honestly I just figured she would think I was too fat. I finally decided to go ahead and reply since I figured I was being ridiculous and I like theatre and thought that it sounded like we had some other things in common.

I sent her this picture:

I never heard back from her.

Today I looked at Craigslist and she had posted talking about how she is 5'3", 115 pounds, and takes care of herself and does her hair every day and is looking for someone that is the same way.

WTH? I know I've put on some weight, but I'm not morbidly freaking obese right? I used to run 15-20 miles a week. Unfortunately I haven't done that since I've been married, but DH and I are closing on our house on Monday and I'll finally be able to exercise when I want, where I want, without the restrictions involved with having a downstairs neighbor in an apartment.

I just feel like sh!t. So I'm sitting here eating burritos and brownies.

Someone please tell me I'm better off?

I have been on materity leave this week and I love not working. I went on ML early because I was having crazy hip pain and not sleeping. This week has been so good. I sleep in, watch all the baby related shows, clean a little, take a walk, nap, and I have even cooked all week and that is soo not me...What am I going to do nesties?

Just wondering if your buyers are not so quick to leave feedback or are not leaving it at all? I've been on ebay since '98 and have noticed a huge change when it comes to buyers leaving feedback. If you sell a lot and often...have you noticed this as well and what, if anything, do you try to do about it? I know many of those on the seller central bd have seen the same thing happen to them.

Anyone have a Master's in Liberal Arts?

I can manage my budget right now. I am paying down debts (more than an minimum every month) and saving a little. I can definately pay the bills without the help.

I thought about getting a second job to pay off debts faster and be able to save more, but my primary job is slightly unpredictible. Ex. last night I barely left by 7pm because I had to take care of client issue, other weeks I may have to come in on the weekends to get things finished up or ready for the next week or a deadline. So I don't feel like I could be reliable enough for a second job.

I live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath house in a nice neighborhood. One of my friends was going to move in with me in Jan but some family issues came up so she is living with her sister to help her out. This friend and I have lived together before and everything was great. However I can't think of anyone else who fits that right now, but the idea of having a roommate is somewhat interesting. It would offer some financial benefits (like being able to pay down debt and save faster) and social ones (I'm still not 100% used to an empty house or cooking for one).

In this situation would you consider getting a roommate or not?

I feel very naive at the moment. I was just reading a post on the bump and the women were all talking about getting prescription diet pills from their doctors. They had pictures in their sig- these were not big women.

Do doctors really just hand out weight loss pills like candy? I had a weight talk with my OB at my pp visit. She told me weight watchers was awesome. I had a talk with my PCP prior to ever being pregnant, and she pretty much said the same thing- eat less, exercise more. It never occurred to me to ask for a weight loss pill, and they sure didn't offer! Granted, I was never obese... but neither are these chicks.

Isn't that stuff dangerous???

*note- I am not interested in taking diet pills. I lost the baby weight already :)

I logged in this morning and they must have found my BC RX because it was in the process of being filled. Don't know what happened.

To answer they question about why I use mail order when I work in a retail pharmacy, for my maintenance meds it saves me money to use mail order and get a 3 month supply. I wish that by working in a pharmacy I got good deals on my meds but I don't. I pay my co pays like everyone else (although if it's pricey I will take the med then pay the co pay later, shouldn't do that but oh well the Pharmacist doesn't care).

Now the stuff I don't need all the time (sleep aids, acne meds,) and of couse the urgent stuff (antibiotics) I get where I work.

Victory: I paid off an entire credit card down to a zero balance again (it had $800 in surprise auto repairs on it and I didn't want to empty my tiny e-fund if I could pay it off in a month with no interest)

Defeat: Stopped at the grocery store last night because I didn't want to eat leftovers again for dinner and ended up buying dinner from the deli and 2 pints of Hagen Das. Totally unplanned spending and not healthy food either.

we received this beautiful collar for Betz that I ordered a couple of days ago:

but sadly the fun little pig dolls I ordered for my niece arrived sans pigs. It was a flimsy envelope that had been torn open and the dolls were stolen :( all I got was a hand written note from the seller (hardly legible, her handwriting was atrocious). She sent the dolls from the UK in a flimsy, non-waterproof manilla envelope. And she completely butchered my last name. I ordered this online, it's not like it's not all spelled out clearly on her computer monitor :(
