I'm at Equinox Century City in LA and pay $240. So $155 sounds pretty reasonable.

Wow, I wonder why that is so much more than my location (in NYC). I guess not all Equinoxs are created equal! haha

It includes laundry service, valet, and small classes. Also use of the spa facilities.

I pay $50/month and I have access to any gym of this company in Canada and free towels.

Although, I should probably go to my school gym that I pay for as part of my tuition. It's too far, though!

That's super crazy! I pay $20/mo through a special deal with my health insurance, but the regular rate is $40/mo. It includes towels, weights (machine & free), cardio machines, classes, pool, childcare - whatever most gyms have. We don't have anything fancy like tanning or what have you, but it has all I need and then some. I cannot imagine paying that much for a gym membership!

$19/ month for 24/7 hours and bring a guest for free. No child care or classes or a pool but it works for us.

I go to LA Fitness and pay $25/month. It doesn't include fancy amenities (like towel service), but I can use all of their locations in my city. I can also go to an unlimited amount of group fitness classes (I use it mostly for spin and yoga). The location I use most also has a pool, but I'm not sure that all of them do.

I am in NYC and even I think that is really too high. I pay $80 a month for NY Sports Club (I think the chain extends to Philly).

When I was a member of Equinox on the UES (2nd Ave at 74th) I paid $140 after my corporate discount. A coworker is still a member, without a corporate membership, and she told me she pays $175? And that was a while ago. So you may be getting a good deal at $155.

I found it completely worth it. I loved that gym. I would marry that gym. I went to that gym all the time because I loved it so much. My god I miss their treadmills.

I moved and Equinox is no longer convenient, so I am now a member of Crunch. It is $65 a month with my corporate discount. That seems to be going rate for a non-fancy chain gym after a corporate discount (NY Sports Club and NY Health & Racquet cost the same). I do not like it nearly as much as Equinox, and miss Equinox dearly. But geography wins out.

I've been a member of Exhale for barre classes -- that was $150 a month (but it has since gone up to $265 which is WAY too rich for my blood).

So it all depends. But what you're paying does not sound unreasonable for a fancy gym like Equinox, particularly if it is as nice as my Equinox was.

DH and I pay around $175 a month for both.

It includes pools, tennis courts, saunas and hot tubs, towel service, permanent lockers with laundry service, most classes (except crossfit and pilates reformer), and access to all of their gyms.

I belong to 24 hour fitness - it's $1.67/month

I also belong to a local MMA gym - $69/month for unlimited classes, etc. It ends up being about $2/class for me, so I think it's worth it (I generally go 5-6x/week for boxing/kickboxing)

$160/month, but it's more of a club than gym. Thats for a family membership, unlimited childcare, towel service, tons of classes & social events, & there's a huge indoor & outdoor pool.

It's expensive to me, but if you love the gym enough I think it's worth it to pay more.

We pay $83 for DH and I at the YMCA.

I'm jealous too - I pay $189/month for unlimited CrossFit at my box. But the coaches/trainers are really good, so in that sense I'm getting my money's worth.

DH and I pay around $85 a month for both our memberships. Our gym isn't the newest or fanciest, but I can't imagine going anywhere else. We have a pool, free fitness classes, free child care (if we had a child) and reduced-price access to other gyms if we travel. They're month-to-month, too, so that's nice. Downside: there is no towel service (that I know of) and the building is old.
