Things went SO much better last night!!!! The audience loved it. Of course, they gave a standing ovation, which doesn't mean jack anymore because people give them for everything, but it was encouraging to hear the raucous applause at the end. :)

Any opinions on either? I am looking into buying a Kindle and my friend is looking into buying a Sony Reader for her daughter. She is wondering if the Sony Reader is comparable to the Kindle. And I am a bit curious myself! TIA

So the play I am in opened last night. Things were going well...until the Costazuela brothers came on stage (this is a female version of The Odd Couple, btw). Why? Well, one of the brothers had been to the doctor that morning for immunizations in order to partake in a mission trip soon. Of those shots, he had tetanus, cortisone, and two others. When he came on stage, he lost his everloving mind! It was like a crazed speed-freak. He was making stuff up, didn't know any of his lines, broke character, used the F word repeatedly (which is nowhere in the script), grabbing his crotch repeatedly, and it was a colossal disaster. They had to force him off stage, go to black out, and try to salvage the scene when the lights came up. This also meant he wasn't in the final scene. Someone called his mother to come pick him up, and he apparently had no idea what had happened, no recollection of what had happened on stage, nothing. The leading speculation is that he had an adverse reaction to the cortisone and it made him crazy as a bedbug. One of the tech guys had had a similar experience with cortisone in the past. Of course, it doesn't help that this actor has also been to rehab for drugs and alcohol, but since he was fine until roughly intermission (they don't go on until the second act but he was backstage), the leading thought is that the cortisone is to blame.

Please, pray for us tonight. Pray that we make it through without incident. I know our director is probably losing her mind, and the poor little community theatre is going to get a lot of flack for the actor's behavior.

Book gift? Suitable for charity tree?

I was going to put a book gift under the charity christmas tree but I'm not sure this is suitable (i.e. not all kids like books), I would have loved it as a kid but I'm not sure the average kid would. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions other than books or for a specific book?

Anyone else get this? I got an email from amazon yesterday offering me a free download of the Kindle for PC program, so I downloaded it (only took maybe 10 minutes on my mediocre connection). I wanted to test it out so I downloaded one of the freebies (Tales from the Jazz Age. Love me some F. Scott Fitzgerald!). I gotta say, it looks like any other webpage in terms of readability. Nothing like the real kindle newsprint look. What are some other thoughts about this?

I'm learning more and more that I don't like chick lit, but I keep picking up because every once in a while I find one I love.

Queen of Babble was not it! In the beginning, Lizzy annoyed the crap out of me. She was so oblivious to Andy and justified everything he did. I truly wanted to pick her out of the book and wring her neck.

Once Lizzy met Luke, I really started to like Lizzy. She started growing up to me and wasn't as oblivious to life.

And then the end! Ok, I was going to rate the book 3 stars until Lizzy and Luke slept together. Call me prude, but the sex scene was so not necessary. I have absolutely no problem with sex, but it was way too fast for me. I can't exactly pin point what it is that bothered me that they had sex. I think it's more of the romantic in me and I would have liked more courting. I would have liked that Luke didn't just dump Dominique and Lizzy just saw her ex. I want to know if Lizzy insisted on Luke wearing a condom like she did Andy.

I know there are a few school librarians on here...I'm about to sign up for my first class to get my Library Information Specialist endorsement (I'm already teacher certified) to make a career change. Can you tell me what you like/love about the profession, and what you don't like about it? I can't wait to take my first class (Literature and Resources for Y-A), and am interested in getting a few different perspectives!

My parents purchased the Kindle for me and it's being shipped as we speak. I would like to order a cover but I'm not sure which one to pick. I see them for Kindle 2, 6 inch kindle, etc. My father sent me the invoice but all it says is Kindle Wireless Reading De...... My other question is are all Kindles useable internationally now or will i have to download books to my computer than upload them to my computer? Thanks!

I just need to vent a bit.

For months and months, everyone around me has been getting sick. Case after case of swine flu with my students, sickness after sickness with co-workers and friends, and somehow I stayed healthy.

I kept saying that I knew it was just biding its time...waiting for me to go on vacation, then BAM, I would get sick.

Well, here I am, leaving tomorrow for a cruise, and BAM in the middle of first period I get smacked in the face with the cold from hell. Sneezing, coughing, stuffy, drippy, clouded head, I can barely think or focus. I TOTALLY KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN!

Of course, I feel even worse because I am running on 3 hrs of sleep from the NM movie last night. And I'm going again tonight...with no time to stop at home for a nap or anything.

I hate this. I am so miz.
