I am hosting Thanksgiving today

for 6 people and I just found out yesterday afternoon. Yikes!

So much to do and no real plan on getting it done. I do not even know what I am making or anything.

Can you interchange Silpat and parchment paper?

I fell really silly, but I have a Silpat and the only time I use it is when I'm rolling pie crust or dough (for my non-stick surface).

I know it's really used as a medium for a non-stick surface, right?

Do you just use it as a non-stick surface to bake cookies?

Do the cookies even "crisp" up since the cookies aren't against a metal surface?

Do you use it in place of parchment paper?

Also- I've been cleaning it with dish soap and water- I'm assuming this is ok.

Only noticed because my stat count spiked a little today and I saw a lot of my hits were coming from this page. Didn't even know about this column.

Im thinking about making my rolls and putting together my broccoli casserole the night before. Ill also probably peel and chop my sweet potatoes.

First, I got the magazine and I am in love! Thanks for recommending it. This is the first source for recipes I have come across where many of the recipes fit into my current diet without any alterations, I am so happy!

Anyway, I noticed that a lot of the recipes call for olive oil, even desserts. Is there a reason for this? In my experience, olive oil isn't very tasty in things like molten lava cakes - which I cannot wait to try. I would normally use vegetable oil as a substitute in something like this, since it's flavorless...

What's on everyones agenda?

Tonight I am going shopping with my mom and picking up my race packet for the 5k tomorrow. getting my running stuff together and making oatmeal pancakes for dinner.

Tomorrow I am running a 5K race in the morning and then heading to the gym for weight lifting. I am going to start pulling out the christmas decor and get started on the tree. I also have to head to Verizon to have my contacts transferred from my broken phone to my new phone.

Sunday I will either go to the gym or head out for a long run. I have to grocery shop, clean house, do laundry and make meals for DH's hunting trip over thanksgiving. I'll be listening to football and nascar while working in the kitchen.

Pot Pie - do you have crust on top and bottom?

We have recently turned our dining room into an office so I plan on coming up with a finger food menu that we can eat in the living room. My stepson is 11 so I have a couple of things that I know the kids will like. Any suggestions for the adults?

Ashley, I just saw your blog, Just when I thought I couldn't do enough research I see your cookie section. Everything is great, might just go ahead and use your famous sugar cookie recipe for what I want to do. Now I just have two questions.

1. It says to use butter, but is this regular butter or unsalted butter?

2. Also do you mind explaining the icing flooding technique to me please? New at the decorating thing and would love for my cookies to come out anywhere remotely like yours.

Hey all!

I'd like to use my Crock Pot to make some chicken that I can shred for enchiladas. What kind of liquid should I put in with the chicken? I'll be adding enchilada sauce and veggies so the liquid doesn't need to impart a ton of flavor. Water? Beer? Chicken stock?

Thank you for the suggestions, I've been enjoying making lots of Crock Pot dishes from your recipe blogs!

Babies are doing well, Bunney seems to be doing well, despite the pain from major surgery! We had lunch and then visited with the babies for a little bit. Everyone say a little prayer that they can get a Ronald McDonald house, because she's going to get discharged in a couple days, and lives about an hour away.

I've never done a PIP from a Picasa album so bear with me. They are in the same album as pics of my cousin's baby, so if you see a MUCH bigger newborn, it's not one of Bunney's babies!

I haven't posted on here in a long time, and haven't even had the time to lurk in a while... but I remember finding a recipe I wanted to try for Acorn squash. Unfortunately, I forgot to bookmark it. It looked easy, and I think It was stuffed with like a chicken flavored stuffing? I think. and I think it was in a blog from someone on this board. Can someone help me find it plase?

I just left a question on your blog, but I figured I might catch you here. I am dying to make your s'mores cupcakes for dessert tomorrow but I don't have a kitchen torch. Do you think there is any other way I can get the frosting nice and toasty on the top?

If not, I think I just added a kitchen torch to my Christmas list. :)
