I never said the acting wasn't great, but boy it was so sad. To be honest, I haven't seen any of the above mentioned movies so I'm not a cliche.

I think it's a very good movie. It is not a feel good movie but the acting is amazing and there is in depth character development.

I really do want to read the book. I will most likely see the movie only because a few students from my lit class were raving about it. They had read the book the semester before and liked the film. I think the plot captures the feeling that was (and in some cases still is) going around in middle class America in the 50's. Disillusionment is a powerful emotion at times and usually isn't a happy one either.

Plus, Sam Mendes lives near me, so I gotta see it for local support. LOL

Sounds like you should stick to the true greats like "The Notebook," "He's Just Not That Into You," "The Proposal," "27 Dresses"... ooh, and let's not forget "How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days." I don't understand why they can't just make romantic comedies and action movies; then we wouldn't have to worry about seeing movies that actually make us think, or depressing ones. It's better to just be mindlessly entertained.

It's coming from netflix today...I've been watching the ratings get lower and lower, so I'm not quite looking forward to it.

it was definitely depressing! we saw that and the Reader in the same weekend - then DH went and added some shoot'em up action movies to our Netflix queue. haha

I thought it looked good at first, but I've seen some bad reviews. I just watched Confessions of a Shopaholic and it was a great lighthearted movie :)

I rented Revolutionary Road yesterday because I thought it would be great to see Leo and Kate together again. I thought it might be romantic...Boy was I wrong! It was a very dark and depressing movie. I'm very disappointed that I just spent the last couple of hours watching it. I kept expecting it to get better in the end. It didn't. Now I need to watch something funny or happy to get in a better mood.
