I am accepting a job transfer to Newport News (from Colonial Heights), and I was wondering if anyone can somewhat point us in the right direction on what complexes are nicer than others. I know it is hard because we are trying to stay right around $750/month, but any help would be great! Thanks!

Hi ladies, I need a vet recommendation as I am fed up with mine.

Our dog Sadie has been having some stomache issues since this summer and we're really looking for a vet who is going to take the time to look at her diet and make recommendations.

What has been happening is we switched her to a better food and after about 6 weeks she got runny poop. So we went to chicken/rice, antibiotics, etc. Then about a month after that, back to the runny poop. Vet gave more antibiotics and prescription Science Diet (i know, i know). Then after that we tried a food recommended on the pets board and it's been about 2 months back to runny poop. We're taking her to the vet tomorrow, but unless they're willing to work with us, I'm seeking a second opinion.

The first food was Chicken soup puppy, the second food was california natural adult chicken/rice. Someone recommended blue buffalo to me this morning for sensitive systems.

Any help ladies, I'm in Yorktown, but I will drive to the Southside, b/c I just really want to get her better and on a good food.

Hi ladies! I'm a regular on the What's Cooking board, but I wanted to stop by here and say hello. My husband's job may be relocating us to Richmond sometime soon. We're coming to visit next weekend, and I'm so excited to see fall colors (which we lack here in Florida). The office is actually in Glen Allen, but we're open to living anywhere.

I don't need any recommendations yet, as an awesome Richmond nestie has given me a ton of info (thanks, Eva!). However, I am guessing I'll have a ton of questions once I return. If we end up moving, I'd love to come to a GTG. We won't know anyone in the area, and the nest definitely helped me meet people when I moved to Orlando a year and half ago.

Anyway, I guess I could be meeting some of you soon, so I look forward to getting to "know" you on here! :)

Anyone have good ideas for a first anniversary getaway? DH and I will be available for traveling from Dec. 26 through Jan. 4. (Jan. 3 is our official anniversary.) We don't have a ton of money, but can afford a 2-4 nights at a hotel. Anyone have any suggestions? We don't want to drive more than 4-5 hours away, tops. We are coming from the Peninsula.

Hey everyone!

I'm new to the nest forums and to married life. =3 My husband and I got married almost two weeks ago at Hillbrook Inn in West Virginia (note: my profile says north carolina... it was where we were originally having the wedding but plans changed and I can't figure out how to change it...or delete my account and remake it so I can redo my username lol). Anyway we're not really living in Virginia yet, but are in the process of buying a house in Leesburg so hopefully we'll be moving soon. Right now we're in Harpers Ferry renting (worst. landlord. ever.) and have one furry child, a German Shepherd named Sasha. We love playing xbox and watching movies as well as going out for sushi, taking Sasha for walks in town, fishing, cooking, shopping, hanging out with friends, and meeting new people. =) So I look forward to being a part of the nest!

So I noticed that a lot of girls that post here are teachers. So how's the first couple weeks of school going? Crazy stories anyone? We need to get this board talking

I've finally learned how to correctly pronounce all of my students names.

I've already had to change all the emergency contact info on one kid cause her dad got arrested.

A student didn't pay for his lunch for a couple of days and had to get peanut butter. His mom told him she'd transfer him if he got peanut butter again.

A student ran up to us crying on the playground because someone hit him. We asked who hit him. He said "the black boy hit me." Um, honey, they're all black. Please be a bit more specific."

Do you hold your spot by waiting in line or do you get assigned a number (what if you have to pee)?

If so, how long was your wait?

At what time did you arrive?

Do you have a choice of the nasal or needle?

Is there an alternate number to call other than the one posted on the site to get to talk to a human and ask these questions?

I am hoping that you may be able to help me. My brother is getting married this Sunday, October 18th. We are staying in Herndon, near the Dulles Airport. I am not at all familiar with this area.

The plans for someone to do my hair have fallen through. The bride has someone doing her hair, but that person is unable to do mine as well. I am looking for a hair stylist/salon that would be available this Sunday morning, that can do a simple up-do. I'm looking for something within about 15 minutes of our hotel.

Does anyone have any suggestions for someone who may be able to help? Thanks for any information!

Hi Girls. DH is in the military and we are transferring next year. Some of the places place to choose from are Chesapeake, Yorktown, Dulles, or Portsmouth. I have never been to any of these places and know nothing about the area. Can you help me out by giving me some information? What is the city like? Any pros or cons? Where do you live? What is the weather like? Is it have a big city feel or more suburbs? Do you get bored or run out of things to do? Are there lots of restaurants, movies, shopping, etc?? Is it outdoorsy?? I have so many questions since I know nothing about Virginia. Any information you can give would be great. Thanks in advance for your help.
