The dvr stopped recording for the last couple of minutes. Can anyone tell me what happened? The last thing I saw was when Meredith walked into the bar. Can you also give me a brief rundown on the previews for next week's show? Thanks!!

I actually called DH out of the office and told him that although we're bound to see it on The Soup later in the week he just HAD to see the part in which Heidi says something like 'Maybe I'll just go off my birth control and surprise him. When he's faced with me having a baby, he'll be excited!'

I don't think I would. I am intensely private so I think it would be hard for me having my every move followed by millions of people. Also, in reading various fan sites, I think I would be seriously creeped out by the fans who actually felt as though they knew me.

I can't imagine her show not existing (even if it takes on a new life on OWN it won't be the same). It has been such a major part of my life and I truly believe that it will be a sad day for TV viewers when it is gone.

The Oprah Winfrey Show, an iconic broadcast that grew over two decades into a daytime television powerhouse and the foundation of a multibillion-dollar media empire, will end its run in 2011 after 25 seasons on the air, Winfrey's production company said Thursday night.

Winfrey plans to announce the final date for her show during a live broadcast on Friday, Harpo Productions Inc. said, bringing an end to what has been television's top-rated talk show for more than two decades, airing in 145 countries worldwide and watched by an estimated 42 million viewers a week in the U.S. alone.

A Harpo spokeswoman declined to comment Thursday on Winfrey's future plans except to say that The Oprah Winfrey Show will not be transferred to cable television.

Winfrey is widely expected to start up a new talk show on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, a much-delayed joint venture with Discovery Communications Inc. that is expected to debut in 2011. OWN is to replace the Discovery Health Channel and will debut in some 74 million homes. An OWN spokeswoman declined comment Thursday.

CBS Television Distribution, which distributes The Oprah Winfrey Show to more than 200 markets blanketing the United States, held out hope that it could continue doing business with Winfrey, perhaps producing a new show out of its studios in Los Angeles.

“We have the greatest respect for Oprah and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavours,” the unit of CBS Corp. said in a statement. “We know that anything she turns her hand to will be a great success. We look forward to working with her for the next several years, and hopefully afterwards as well.”

Winfrey's 24th season opened earlier this year with a bang, as she drew more than 20,000 fans to the city's Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue for a Chicago block party with the Black Eyed Peas.

She followed up with a series of blockbuster interviews — Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, exclusives with singer Whitney Houston and ESPN's Erin Andrews, and just this week, former Alaska governor, GOP vice presidential candidate and best-selling author Sarah Palin. She found time between shows to lobby the International Olympic Committee in Denmark for Chicago's failed bid to host the 2016 Olympics.

The loss of The Oprah Winfrey Show would be a blow to CBS Corp. because it earns a percentage of hefty licensing fees from TV stations that use it.

On a conference call with analysts two weeks ago, CBS Chief Executive Leslie Moonves said the contract with the show ran through most of 2011 and “if there's a negative impact, it wouldn't hit us until '12.”

CBS continues to sell several top shows into syndication, however, including Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. But many TV stations are struggling with falling advertising revenue and were unlikely to pay the same fees as in the past for Winfrey's show, which has seen ratings slip 7 per cent from a year ago and saw its average viewership slip below 7 million last season.

Winfrey started her broadcasting career as a teenager in Nashville, Tenn., reading the news at WVOL. Two years later, Winfrey started co-anchoring news broadcasts on WTVF-TV in Nashville. In 1976 she moved to Baltimore to anchor newscasts at WJZ-TV before becoming host of the local talk show People Are Talking.

In 1984, she relocated to Chicago to host WLS-TV's morning talk show A.M. Chicago — the show became The Oprah Winfrey Show one year later. She set up Harpo the following year and her talk show went into syndication, rising to become one of the most successful in the history of broadcasting.

Powered by the show's staggering success, Winfrey built a wide-ranging media empire. Harpo Studios produces shows hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw and celebrity chef Rachael Ray, her “book club” selections produce instant best-sellers, and O, The Oprah Magazine was the nation's seventh most popular magazine in the first half of 2009.

“I came from nothing,” Winfrey wrote in the 1998 book Journey to Beloved. “No power. No money. Not even my thoughts were my own. I had no free will. No voice. Now, I have the freedom, power, and will to speak to millions every day — having come from nowhere.”

Earlier this year, Forbes scored Winfrey's net worth at $2.7-billion, even as the magazine knocked her from atop its list of the world's most powerful celebrities. The honour went to Angelina Jolie, but Winfrey was still No. 2 on the annual Celebrity 100 list — and the top earner at $275-million.

Looking for fun activities for Thanksgiving

My DH & I are hosting our first Thanksgiving-There will be 13 of us-combining friends & family-(no kids yet)

The clincher...our house is under construction. I think we can get it to a place that acceptable for company-meaning a kitchen & working bathroom, but not much else. Good thing it's all about being together ;-)

We've made the last minute decision to let Boston Market do the majority of the cooking.

I always like to have a fun activity or two planned in case there's a lull. Any ideas?

Well, I was one of the ones who went to the midnight showing! I have to say that it wasn't as bad of a mob scene as I thought it would be, and it was not full of annoying teenagers. About 15 of us met at a bar right near the theatre and boozed it up a little before going in, and we had an awesome time!

I thought this movie was a lot better than Twilight was. I was happy to see that there was some actual story to it...I thought the first movie was really just background information without much of the meet of the story. Anyway, can't wait to hear what others thought!

Ideas for Thanksgiving weekend

Not sure if this is the right board to post this on....My family is coming into town for Thanksgiving and I am trying to think of fun ideas for things to do with them. I try to come up with unique ideas for each trip so we get to do lots of different things - they are pretty much up for anything and we have done things like boat dinner cruises, imax movies and all kinds of other things. I am thinking that one night we will check out Holidazzle and do a little shopping downtown to get in the spirit of the season. Any fun ideas?

I saw Netflix live on XBOX has A Little Princess. I remember watching that movie all the time when I was younger! So now I am watching it.

Any movie you go back to for nostalgia reasons? I also randomally watch Little Women. Hands down the movie that always makes me cry.

One of the best lines from Austin Powers! So you all heard already, next season is her last. I say good for her! Though her rating have gone down quite bit she is still on a high and people are totally sick of her yet...leave on a high note! I'm sure she'll have some crazy show a few years from now that involves a kleenex advertisement...so her funds will NEVER go dry!

Thoughts on this season?

1. Tamra is so jealous of everyone. I kind of feel bad for her. She always looks great though, she must either have a stylist or really knows what works on her body.

2. Jeana and Vicki need stylists. They are beautiful but choose the wrong clothing 90% of the time.

3. I thought it was nice how Jeana admitted she used to be one of the "mean girls" but now she realizes it isn't something she wants to be involved in. The show won't be the same without her.

4. Vicki remains crazy.

5. Alex has an amazing body (aside from her "enhancements". I think it will be interesting to watch her relationship with her husband.

6. Kara (Jeana's daughter) is looking worse and worse. IMO she looked better before her plastic surgery.

7. I love Gretchen, but I hate Slade. What is she doing with him?!?

Your siggy reminds me of my mom. I was so thinking that Thanksgiving isn't really the same #1) with her gone, and #2) w/o the Macy's parade.

She always had this on in the livingroom when cooking T-day dinner in the kitchen. It truly started her holidays.

I am anti-Twilight. I read a lot of books, and tried to read the Twilight books, and got about 100 pages into the first one, it took me FOREVER to read that far...I thought the book was awful. So sappy, and just ridiculous.

Then tried to watch the movie...we rented it, and it was SO bad. Like, laughably bad!

I have to admit the previews for the new one look good, but I don't think I'll even rent it, honestly.

Plus DH and I are going to a movie tomorrow night and I'm scared of all the teenagers and 40 year old women with Edward t-shirts on...makes me want to avoid the theater!!

For my fellow LOST fans...the premiere date was officially announced. It is on Tuesday this year instead of Wednesday....

"ABC just confirmed that Lost will kick off its sixth and final season with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 9-11 pm. The requisite recap special will start things off at 8 pm. The following week, Lost will settle into its regular Tuesday-9 pm perch."

Question about Fandango tickets

If you buy a movie ticket on Fandango, I know you print something out - is it the receipt type of ticket and then you take it to the theater window and they give you tickets, or is that your actual ticket? TIA!
