where to buy a mattress?

We need to buy a king size mattress (already have the frame and box spring- long story!) when we move next month.

We dont need anything fancy and are trying to stay fairly cheap since the new house and wedding are bleeding us dry Wink

Any recommendations on a place that sells discount mattresses?

We got ours at Denver Mattress- we've gotten both our king and queen there and were happy with both.

AFW has them in all price ranges.  That's where I got my king size.  But I have a bad back and had to spend however much the one that didn't hurt me cost, which wasn't on the lower end.  Tongue Tied

I would definitely check out Denver Mattress.

(edit- I forgot to mention, when I went yesterday they had a clearance section with bigger discounts!  Be sure to ask about that if you go in).

I will second Denver Mattress. My family has bought at least 4 mattresses over the course of 12 years from them and they are great, no complaints.

Try Big Lots too, strange place to buy a mattress but they have some good prices. I bought all my guest mattresses from there.

I'm going to be in the minority here and say that we weren't that happy with our Denver Mattress and it was one of the pretty high end ones. We ended up going to Mattress King and buying a $3500 floor model for $1500. It's the best mattress we've ever had and anyone that ever sits on our bed or happens to fall asleep on it (a friend passed out on it once, my mom's napped on it while babysitting, plus a few girlfriends have sat/laid on it with me right after I had Reese) can't get over how comfortable it is.

We got our box spring & mattress from Denver Mattress company.  It was about $1000 out the door, including accessories and we LOVE it.  I think they had some cheaper models too, but this one was better for my back.  A lot of stores will probably do Independence Day sales too.
