Any tips on relocating to Germany?

Do you know of anyone who might be able to give me some useful information? We have an opportunity to move to Germany for a year for H's job. I am searching for cost of living info. vs. Pittsburgh, but no luck yet. We would be in the Dusseldorf area.

Thanks!

Check out the International newlywed boards. I know there are some Germany transplants there. Also, anyone of them can give you get started tips.

What a neat opportunity - good luck!

Try this: http://boards.thenest.com/Boards/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=350

Also, google "american citizen relocating to Germany" - then check out the .gov sites. I'm not sure if this will help, but you never know!

Is your DH an Engineer?  My DH's company is relocating tons of employees right now and I was wondering if maybe they worked together.

We've been to Germany a few times and it's beautiful.  Good food, good beer, friendly people.  I used the Rosetta Stone series to learn the language and it's extremely helpful have a decent knowledge of the language.  You'll feel much less cut off and able to be included.
