Things to do with a 2 year old in St. Louis

Hey ladies!  I'm from the KC area and my DH, DD and myself are headed to St. Louis the last weekend in July for a mini vacation.  I would love some ideas for kid friendly activities while we are there.  I know my husband got tickets to a Cards game for Saturday night, so our Saturday would probably be spent downtown, but we will also be there Thursday night, Friday day/night and most of Sunday.  Our daughter is 2 years old, so we have to figure in naps and the such for her.  Tell me about your children's museum (where it is and if it is a good thing) and any other ideas.  We'll probably do the Arch on Saturday during the day.  Other than that, we don't have anything planned.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Lilmufish covered most of it! I recommend the zoo, Grant's Farm and the Magic House. If it's not a zillion freakin' degrees, Tilles Park is good for the little ones. The playground is toddler friendly. Get frozen custard at Ted Drewes too!

I can't believe that the st. louis science center isn't on that list.  There is a lot for little ones there.  Might be better for ages 5-10 but definately stuff to do for little ones.

I recommend the zoo they have a stingray exhibit going on that is pretty cool.  Grants farm which would be especially good if its not too hot because it will probably close soon with the AB drama going on.  You can see the clydesdales and other animals.  Free beer for the adults. Fun time for all.

So much to do in St. Louis and most is free so that is a plus.

The Magic House is a must.  There's lots of stuff there that a 2-year-old would be interested in.  It's in Kirkwood, which is an inner-ring suburb, and it's a quick few minutes off of Highway 44 (not sure where you're staying, but it's no more than 25 minutes from downtown).  The Zoo (in Forest Park) is also awesome.  Entrance is free, but spring for admission to the Children's Zoo.  There are enough cool/air conditioned parts of the Zoo (Living World, Children's Zoo, Puffin & Penguin House, Reptile House, Primate House, etc.) that even on the hottest days, you can still have a good time there.

There's a brand new sculpture garden opening in downtown St. Louis on July 1.  It's at Market and Chestnut and will be called "City Garden."  It's supposed to have an indoor cafe, along with some outdoor fountains for kids to run around in, and of course it will have lots of sculptures, etc.  Particularly if you're downtown, it sounds like it would be a nice, low-key place to stop and let your daughter play a little!

I was at Vellum in Kirkwood yesterday, and they have The Lila Guide: Baby Friendly St Louis area in their sale baskets for $5. I picked one up for myself. I recommend it.

Thanks ladies!  These are all great ideas!  We look forward to our weekend in your great city!  Word is that there is a major interstate closed... am I correct?  Is it hard to navigate around that?

Again, thanks for all the helpful info!  Big Smile
