sneakers, tennis shoes, gym shoes something else?
do you call casual shoes (like skechers) that you wear with jeans but not to work out the same thing or are those shoes different?
I call them all gym shoes. My workout shoes are gym shoes and so are these casual Pumas I have that I bop around town in on the weekends.
I call shoes I wear when I work out tennis shoes.
I don't ever wear anything other than flip flops or heels with jeans...so I call them flip flops or heels...

Because I actually do play tennis and have specific tennis shoes (which are very different from running shoes or sneakers), I am more specific.

Regular non-running shoes are "tennis shoes" or "tennies", courtesy of my mom. :)

It totally must be a Chicago thing since I grew up there and call them gym shoes as well.
I grew up with a dad that called gym shoes (LOL) PF Flyers...guess it was a brand back in his day so occasionally I call them that. Ever here that term?My son calls his gym shoes "Chucks" as in Converse Chuck Taylor's. This is about every sports shoe he wears (which are usually Asics-spelling?)

Workout shoes are gym shoes or running shoes.
Pumas et al. are sneakers.

Tennis shoes, but with my accent, it sounds more like "Tennashoes". I do NOT pronounce the S.
And my Pumas, I call Pumas. I brown ones, that are like Payless brand, and I call them my "brown shoes". Haha... I don't own a lot of shoes!
for working out: sneakers
To be honest, I only wear sneaker-type shoes at the gym. However, if I did wear them outside of the gym, I'd still call them sneakers.
