The Nest

1. Are you off work tomorrow? If so what will you be doing? No work for me tomorrow. DH and I are finishing up the refi on the house then going out to dinner and to see Transformers.

2. Do you own a flag? If so where do you hang it? yep, I have one of those small garden flags in my front flower bed.

3. Are you going to watch fireworks this weekend? probably not

5. Favorite 4th of July tradition? I don't really have one anymore. Growing up, we would always spend the 4th at the lake with another family but times have changed and everyone is in too many other places.

6. Any service men or women in your family? Yep, DH and two of his brothers.

1. Are you off work tomorrow? If so what will you be doing? i'm off. i'll probably be working on the deck w/ DH and his parents are coming to town so we'll hang out with them too.

2. Do you own a flag? If so where do you hang it? yes, its on a pole outside the garage

6. Any service men or women in your family? no. my grandpa is a vet though.

1. Are you off work tomorrow? If so what will you be doing?  Yes, I will be flying up to NY in the am, then we're doing some "family" things tbd

2. Do you own a flag? If so where do you hang it?  Yes, we have a flag, and we hang it on the front post of our house, near the front door.

3. Are you going to watch fireworks this weekend?  Yes, Saturday evening--all my friends from HS gather at one families home on the beach, every home has a bonfire (it looks so cool to look down the beach at the row of fire), and around 9pm, the fireworks start. 

4. Making any red, white, and blue desserts? Post link if you have one!  Since I'll be away from our home, I doubt it.

5. Favorite 4th of July tradition?  The fireworks tradition I mention above.  There's also the really random conversation we traditionally have as we watch the fireworks about human cheese and how these fireworks are literally saving the earth (I have one friend who swears that one earth year is the equivalent of one alien year and that aliens try to invade earth every year on the 4th of July, but because it looks like we're at war, they stay away.)  I know there are a lot of fallacies with this theory, but it's fun in our weird group of friends sort of way.

6. Any service men or women in your family?  Not currently.  Grandads on both sides were (they are deceased), and my uncle (also deceased) and dad's cousin served in Vietnam.

2. Do you own a flag? If so where do you hang it? We have several flags, but none that hang outdoors.

6. Any service men or women in your family? My dad is a Vietnam vet, one uncle served in the USAF, another retired from the Navy, yet another retired from the Army, my closest cousin is currently in the USAF, & my CWs are about 50% military retirees (another 10-15% have spouses in the military).

5. Favorite 4th of July tradition? Our newest one is celebrating Connor's b-day.  I'm trying to make the tradition of fixing him blueberry and strawberry muffins for breakfast (red, white and blue), then going to the parade and then fireworks in the evening.  I love that his b-day is the 4th!

6. Any service men or women in your family? None active but my mom was Army and her husband was Navy so we have veterans in the family.  I love them so much and am so greatful for the service that they provided our country!

1. Are you off work tomorrow? If so what will you be doing? I'm not supposed to be, but I requested a "personal day" and my boss approved it, so I'll be off :).

5. Favorite 4th of July tradition? When my family lived closer to each other, we used to always set off a ton of fireworks... we'd blow a good $300 on them... now that we're sort of scattered we don't really have any more traditions for 4th of July.

6. Any service men or women in your family? Not at the moment for the US Military. I have 3 cousins (one woman, two men) currently serving in the Israeli Army. As for past services: my dad and DH's dad were both in Vietnam. Both grandfathers were in the military, my brother was in the Army, and most of the women or men on my dad's side have served in the Israeli military at some point or another.

5. Favorite 4th of July tradition? I did not grow up celebrating the 4th (lived in another country) so I dont really have any traditions.
