Oil Cleansing Method?

I've noticed several people on here lately mention the oil cleansing method and how it's helped their skin. I checked it out and I'm very excited to try it! If it works as well as it and some of you have said, it's going to be a huge relief for a very long search! I have a couple of questions though, for those of you that it's helped--

It said to do it regularly, but not too frequently-- what has that translated for to you? Also, on days in between using it, what do you use instead? just some kind of simple cleanser?

I use a small bit of jojoba oil to cleanse a couple days a week.  On other days I use a very gentle cleanser (currently it's Purpose).  I use a tiny drop of the jojoba oil every night as a moisturizer though--it's the only thing that really absorbs into my skin and doesn't clog my pores or make me break out.  GL!

Thanks! That's a good idea to use the oil as a moisturizer too, I stopped using moisturizer for a bit because it seemed like they always just made me breakout as well.

I follow the OCM every day (at night only).  I use a blend of sesame oil and castor oil.  In the morning, I use my Clarisonic with Cetaphil and I use 2-3 drops of my cleansing oil as a moisturizer.

I can't make this clicky, but this site is a good reference for OCM: http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/

I did it everyday for a week at night.  I made a blend of 30% castor oil, 70% sunflower oil.  After I cleanse, I'll dab a bit of tea tree oil on any existing blemishes and then moisturize with jojoba oil.  In the mornings, I only wipe my face with a warm wash cloth - no cleanser.

I've since gotten a Clarisonic, so I'm still feeling out my routine.  I think I'll do OCM a few nights a week now.  When I don't use OCM, I use iS Clinical cleanser, which is very gentle.

GL if you try it!  I love what it's done for my skin so far!

When I'm home, I try to do it every night before I get in the shower.  I have combination skin, more oily than dry, so I use more castor oil than evoo.

I've been using Oil of Olay and Ponds and Clean n Clear for six months and really cannot wait to get back home to start OCM again.

Unless it's comedogenic, which I highly doubt, moisturizers do not cause you to break out. Breakouts occur when you have dead skin cells and an over production of oil from your sebaceous glands. I'm an esthetician and I can't believe how many people with oily skin tell me this. In actuality, if you use a moisturizer, you will have less oil because your sebaceous glands won't produce oil that was stripped away when you washed your face. Everyone should use a moisturizer daily.

I do it nightly. When I skip and do something else I notice a difference in my skin.
