Fun games?

Anyone have any games they really enjoy with a group, around 6-8 people? Could be card, board, word, whatever. I'm going to be spending 5 days w/ the fam and want to bring something to play with so they don't annoy me. We have Apples to Apples, that's about it.

Dominoes.  My family loves, loves, loves the train version of the game.  I've also introduced it to DH's family and they love it.  In fact MIL got everyone a set for Christmas it was such a hit.

Oh, I'd forgotten we had that too, it's pretty fun.  I wonder if my brother brought it with him.

We have a game called Wits and Wagers (it's a trivia/betting game) that is really fun. It can be played with almost any number of people. We also like Cranium and Loaded Questions.

Are you going to be in the OBX? (I'm there now!) We tried this place called the Bad Bean Cafe in Tim Buk II (or however that is spelled) that was pretty good, if you've never been there! It's Mexican-type food (burritos, quesadillas, tacos, etc.) and their margs were good too. Drinks

We are big dominoes players too. It's a family addiction!

We also play Yahtzee which is good for about 4 - 5. More than that and it gets boring.

My family also does a bunch of card games, specifically Crazy Eights, Uno and Wizard.

Oh, I noticed that place when we were up there a few weeks ago and wondered if it was any good. My parents place is about 2 miles from there, so I'm sure we'll check it out sometime, but probably not this trip. I feel like such an old lady, but the summer crowds annoy me at the restaurants there.  I've never been there during the 4'th, does Duck put on a fireworks display?

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone, keep them coming! I'll have to check them out at target today :)

I'm intrigued by these domino suggestions, I don't think I've ever played.

LOL, I don't think that's old lady-ish at all. We've never actually been here over the 4th of July before; even though it's supposedly "less crowded" here this year because of the economy, it's still plenty crowded for me. I'm not sure if Duck has a fireworks display; I know fireworks are supposedly prohibited in Duck, but I don't know if the town does something official. We'll see!

And about the Bad Bean, we went on Tuesday and my mom had been one other time, and said both times it was only about half to 3/4 full in there. Surprisingly uncrowded for a holiday week! Anyway, have a great time this weekend!

My family introduced us to a new game, Bananagrams.  It's kind of like Scrabble, in that you're forming words w/ tiles, but you work on your own "board".  Everyone takes ~20 tiles at the beginning (the exact amount depends on the # of people playing).  Then, you make as many words as you can from those tiles (intersecting to form a crossword puzzle like in Scrabble).  You can trade in tiles you don't like, and every time someone uses up all their tiles, everyone draws an additional one, until all the tiles in the pot are gone.  When there are no more tiles to draw, you have to make do with what you have and the winner is the person who uses up all his/her tiles first.

It's a lot of fun, and I liked it better than Scrabble because you can work at your own pace and you're not sitting there waiting for someone to finish their turn.

Here's a link I found that shows the game.

They sell it at Michael's & AC Moore so you can get it there w/ a 40% off coupon if you have one!

DH and I were in Duck 3 years ago for the 4th.  They have a very cute community 4th of July parade but no fireworks.  We went to Corrolla that night to the Whalehead Club area to see the fireworks.  It was really crowded, but lots of fun.

Since I'm awesome, I jotted down all the games on a post it and then promptly forgot it at work. I remembered most of them, but picked up Dominoes since I'm intrigued by it. Thanks for the suggestions!

My family (DH's side) can sort of have a "nasty" sense of humor...they joke sexually a lot...it's really funny though...anyway, I think that sort of makes this game more fun.  It's called The Game of Things.  Basically everyone has a sheet of paper they write their answers on and there is a reader who reads the card and everyone's answer.  The cards say something like "Things you shouldn't do in the shower" or something random like that.  Everyone writes down an answer and then the reader reads them.  Then you go around the table and try to guess who said what.  (you go around the table and if someone guesses your answer, you don't get to guess anymore.)  Now some people might say something funny like "drop the soap" or one of my favorites "two chicks at once" (don't ask, but it's a regular answer...) and some answer it seriously.  So I think the game wouldn't be nearly as fun if everyone answered seriously, but if you have a family with a good sense of humor, this could be a really fun game.  We found it at target and it's in a wooden box in the game section and it's called The Game of Things.  Anyway, hope you find some good ones to play and sorry for the novel...
