puppy quirks...

So far, I think we're quite possibly the luckiest dog adopters ever.  Bixby has yet to show any legit bad habits.  She is snuggly, playful, has had no accidents, willingly goes into her crate when she's ready for bed, is awesome on the leash, and best of all, she never begs for food while we're eating.  But...someone must have shared tea time with her at some point.  When I sit down to drink a cup of tea, she immediately runs over, jumps straight into my lap, and sticks her nose right into my teacup.  I move her off of my lap with a firm "No", and she sits patiently beside me until I lower my cup and she acts like that is her invitation to get her share.  It would probably bother me if I didn't think it was so darn cute.

I also kind of imagine that little birds and ponies help her get ready in the morning, in the nicest way possible.

Yep.  I always let my tea cool off a little bit, so it's not super hot, but yes.  Strange, huh?

That is super cute :)

Our little shih tzu LOVES to have her belly rubbed. She is a total wh0re about it. If you stop before she's had enough, she starts pumping her front paws. It is so weird but so cute!

tara- I read you should never give dogs any caffeine- it can harm them in high volumes. However, if your tea is caffeine-free, then let the little pup enjoy it!

Not to worry, Veronika.  I have several years experience as a vet. tech. under my belt, so I don't actually let her drink it.  While a negligible amount of caffeine wouldn't be harmful, I don't want to encourage any bad habits.

Tara- sorry, I would never imply that you would give your dog caffeine, I just know it is something a lot of people are not aware of (myself included, before I found out)

your pup is very cute!

Thanks.  We're pretty much completely in love with her already.  I am house/dogsitting for a friend this weekend who has two labs.  One of them came to sit on the couch with me and she jumped into my lap.  Sort of like "Ha!  I can get closer to her than you can!"  She doesn't like sharing us with other dogs, lol.

There are so many things that people don't realize are bad for their dogs.  I remember finding out that grapes can be toxic and I was shocked!  I used to always give our dogs grapes when I was growing up because it was funny to watch them try to eat them.

raisins, grapes, chocolate, and so many other things like raw eggs and raw onions.

I did a lot of research because I am such a paranoid person.  We had to take our poor lulu to the ER once because he had eaten a dark chocolate pastry that was super concentrated and chocolatey. They had to induce vomitting and give him active charcoal. Poor little guy. It was my fault- I left the pastry in a napkin in my purse after a christmas party...i'll never forgive myself, thank GOD we caught him in the act of eating it.

keep us updated on your pup!
