I thought it sent a really mixed message. They are trying to promote natural birth but the videos they showed of natural home births made them look terrifying. The women were not using any relaxation or breathing techniques to get them through it, the partners were sometimes not even viewed, not contributing.Only one woman looked like she was actually not in excruciating pain!
I felt they should have made more of an effort to show the different styles that can be used to improve the chances of an easy, more comfortable natural birth, rather than a bunch of screaming and yelling. I have seen videos of hypnobirthing moms where you would barely believe they were actually giving birth until the baby shows up. I am sure Bradely method is incredibly helpful too.
It did show the value of natural birth in terms of the side effects/possible complications of the medications and also helps people to understand that midwives use medical equipement and refer to hospitals when there is any complicating factors. I think some people think they are not really medically trained.
