avery's middle name is my name, elizabeth. it is also my grandmother's name, cousin's name, two great aunts etc. there are a lot of elizabeths in my family. other names that are common in my extended family are lupton, pettit, broomell, wallace, dobson...it is common in my family to use last names of previous generations as middle names. i would use any of these as a middle name. i don't know that there are any i wouldn't use.

it's a girl...Avery Elizabeth was born on August 22nd

As I said below, my Opa's name is Helmut Adolph.  So - probably wouldn't use any of those...obviously.

We used Nicolay as Nollie's middle name - its my mom's maiden name and I LOVE it.

Other family names we would use...
Maria
Elisabeth
Ingrid
Davis
Lucille

My aunt's names are Waltraud and Jutta - I am guessing we wouldn't have used those either.  Just a hunch!

Yes, he's laughing at you.

My grandmother's name is Madeline Rosemary. I had always planned on using that if we ever decide to have kids. Jen1974 just used it so now I might have to come up with something else. Maybe Rosemary Madeline? Does that sound wierd to anyone else? For a boy, I would use Theodore, which was my grandfather's name. I can't believe I am actually participating in this conversation. I am usually pretty staunchly opposed to the idea of having children. Darn Cuppie has ruined me!

Had I had a boy, his middle name would have been Everett.  It's my mother's maiden name.

all of my someday (God willing) babies will have family names:

1.  Lily Elaine - my mom's name is Susan and Susan means Lily - Elaine is my maternal grandmother.

2.  Catherine Ruth - Catherine is MIL's middle name and Ruth was her sister's name (she passed away a few years ago).

boys are up in the air -- but in my mind it's

3. Charles Adam -- go by Charlie -- that was my paternal grandfather's name -- Adam was Paul's BFF who passed away in college from CF.

we don't really have any crazy names -- just old fashioned!

Angelika- Thanks, now that song is stuck in my head! =) Mrs.Leibo- I know it is on your "no" list but I have always loved the name Beatrice. The problem is it is just such an "old" sounding name.

For DS, we used 2 family names, one form DH's side and one from mine.   So, Joseph Scott are the family names that got passed on.

There are plenty of family names I wouldn't pass on from waaaaay back.  LOL

Amelia - mommy to DD, 7.9.05, and DS, 3.5.07

DH and his dad both have the middle name Nicholas, Dh's uncle is Nicholas, my grandfather's middle name is Nicholas and his brother(my dad's uncle) was Nicholas - so we're very highly considering it for a boy. My grandfather's name is Raphael - so as much as I'd love to use his name, it might have to be a middle name:) DH, his dad and my dad are all John, so that's also a consideration for a middle name.

My grandmother is Mildred - I probably wouldn't do that to a kid. Even though I think Millie would be a cute nickname.

Tara - if you had a Beatrice, then you'd have to have another girl and name her Ramona.  That would be amazing.
