Fall cocktails for a crowd?

What would you serve for an outdoor picnic lunch in the fall? I'm afraid of doing something warm because I have nothing to keep it warm- and there will be 20-30 people coming so I don't think my crockpot will work. Any ideas? Thanks!

some sandwiches with hearty fillings? i am thinking some thick bread with slices of steak, caramelized onions and blue cheese. or roasted fall veggies with a creamy cheese spread on foccacia.

i also love pasta salad with roasted veggies (think butternut squash, eggplant, red pepper) with crumbled goat cheese and a red wine vinaigrette.

Can you get Pimm's No. 1 Cup where you live?  It seems to be gaining popularity in the United States/becoming more available.

Anyway, Pimms is ginger-y and is great mixed with apple cider and infused with mulling spices and cardamom pods.  This is good warm or cold.

Woops- thanks ladies, I wasn't very clear. Good idea- appletini's... we're getting a keg so it would probably just be the ladies drinking cocktails anyway..

I am gonna further that and suggest my fave - caramel appletinis :) just add some butterschoch shnapps, mmm! And ITA that comment was unncessary. Many times people ask for cocktail party suggestions and they really mean food, so I can see how it could be read that way.

I make food, photograph it, and eat it too.
