We both moved from Seattle too! Although we were both raised in the Seattle area so Anchorage is pretty new to both of us - I have family here and have come up several times in the past to visit but the hubs had never been before his job interview in April!

Hi ladies!!  I'm new to the borads, I am a professional photographer and trying to branch into the wedding business.... so after hanging out on the knot for a while, I thought I should find some other married folks!  

 I was born and raised in Anchorage, spent some time in Colorado and Texas, and now back in Anchorage going to UAA for nursing.  I am an LPN, trying to work my way to an RN.  My photography is my side business, to bring in some extra money.  Mostly I do maternity and babies, but I want to do brides and I'm trying to expand my portfolio *so if anybody wants more bridal portraits or trass the dress pics, let me know!*  Anyway, I'm the proud mommy to two little girls, Emma (2.5) and Addison (1).

Welcome! I looked at some of your pictures and you are really talented! I'd love to get this board hopping too - it seems like there aren't too many Alaskans on The Nest but maybe once the weather gets colder and people are indoors more it'll pick up a bit more?

Where in AK you live:  Anchorage.  We just bought a new house and moved from East Anchorage to the lower hillside.  We love, love, love our new house!

Welcome Erin!  I live on the lower hillside too.... love it here, great neighborhoods! Two weddings, wow!  lol, I had enough stress just trying to do one ;)  

 

So what do you girls do for fun in Anchorage?  We dont get out much because of the kids, but I'm always looking for some kind of fun night out that doesnt involve Koots or Platnum Jacks.... DH keeps talking about taking some dance classes, I think that sounds fun  :)

What kind of dance classes are you guys interested in?  I could never drag FH to any... but I was just learning to country dance when we met, with friends.  Don't laugh, it was in the middle of wheat fields in eastern washington, and yes, I like country music! 

I love country music!  Actually our church- ChangePoint- is going to start doing Sunday Night Dances again (30 minutes of instruction, then open dance) so maybe we can go to a few of those.  Eddie's Sports Bar has Ladies Night every Wednesday with country music and dancing!

My husband and I go to ChangePoint too! We are really new, we've only been twice together and he's been a few times before I moved up here but we like it so far. We are planning to go through the new member classes soon, but they conflict with the hubs work schedule (he works evenings) so we have to figure that out. What service do you go to? We mostly attend the Saturday evening one.

 

Oh and we live in Independence Park, I love it there - close to everything!

yeah, independence park is a great area!  I always shop at that Fred Meyer :)  I live just south of Huffman, so we are pretty close! 

 

I used to work the Saturday service in the nursery, but since they dropped the nursery on Saturdays, now we attend the 9:30 on Sunday and then I stay and work the 11:30 as team leader of the nursery.  Are you going to do Gospel Transformation?  Right now I am planning on doing it with some other nursery leaders, but I would LOVE to get a small group together with some other young couples and convince my DH to come along!
