Airport/Travel Question

Hi Ladies-

I live in Michigan but my IL's recently bought a place in Sarasota. There aren't many flights from Detroit to Sarasota (especially non-stop and that's what we're looking for since we have a 6 month old....). My IL's place is near the I-75 & Clark Rd. exit.

Which airport would be closer to fly into: Tampa or Ft. Myers???

My IL's are not that familiar with the area yet.......

If you can help out, please respond :)

TIA!

I think Tampa is closer, but did you try St Pete Airport? That would be the best option. A lot of flights come in there from the Midwest. It's a small airport, but there may be some options there as well.

The Tampa airport is about 60 miles to Clark Rd, while the Ft Myers airport is about 83. There might be more traffic from Tampa though, if you rented a car. I also think that the prices are cheaper to Tampa, and there are a lot of airfare specials. Have your in-laws email me at the address in my profile if they need any info about Sarasota. What a gorgeous place it is hehe.

Check google maps for distance and best route for inlaws to use for picking you up.

Not sure if they fly beteween the cities you are wanting but check out Allegiant and usa3000 for great cheap flights.  I regulary get $19 flights on Allegiant to TN and WV.

I-75/Clark is about 1 hour from the Tampa airport, and about 2 hours from the Ft. Myers airport.

And the Tampa airport has many more flights.

Like the pp said, you could also check the St. Pete/Clearwater airport for flights.  I-75/Clark is probably only about 35-40 minutes away from that airport...  Not many flights though...
