Need help furniture shopping

We're ready to buy a crapload of furniture... and I have looked everywhere...without much luck (Macys. Ashley, Value City, Furniture Fair, JC penney) What am I missing? Any cool websites I should check out??

We wanted to be done by June, yeah right.

I like Furniture Row Outlet in Florence.  We bought our kitchen table there and love it.  To me it's the same quality as furniture fair, but the prices are a little lower.  They also have great financing offers if you are interested in that.
It's the same company as Oak Express.

Not sure what all you are looking for, and I haven't been there yet, but what about the new IKEA?

I hate furniture shopping, everything is made of crap. I like solid wood furniture, and I am so disappointed at whats out there. We bought a bedroom set from Furniture Fair- not impressed!!! When it was delivered, there were a few scratches, and they had a repairman come out to fix them. It's been since August that we bought it, and the corners have already shown a lot of wear. Do you want your furniture forever, or will you eventually change it? I would recommend Ethan Allen. Their quality (and price) are tops imo. There's also Pottery Barn, West Elm, Crate and Barrel, Williams Sonoma Good luck!

What all do you need?  I went to the Pottery Barn outlet a couple of months ago and I was suprised by some of the stuff- it used to be pretty beat up but the furniture looks much better now.  I even saw some of the slipcovered sofas (with cover) for under $500.

There's also a book about buying from the North Carolina furniture area (HIgh Point, etc).  It's by Frommers or one of the big travel guides and tells how to realistcly buy there and take everything home.  Looked like the deals were so good and worth the trip if you had to buy enough to furnish a whole house or something.  It's called Shopping the North Carolina Furniture Outlets: How to Save 50-80% on Your Next Furniture Purchase by Ellen Shaprio

We've had our bedroom set from furniture fair for 4 years and it is still in great condition.  No scratches or worn corners.

UCcats, you should read the book, I agree that furniture today is crud or way too expensive.  I buy antiqueish pieces just b/c they seem to be made better, but I do like the idea of going to NC and getting the higher priced brands for cheap!

I will definately check into that book! DH & I have actually been antique shopping lately to look for a few pieces of furniture. I fell in love with an old sideboard table that would have been perfect for our entry- but it was already sold, so Im on the hunt. Maybe I can talk DH into a trip there....

We love Ethan Allen. Some of it is way overpriced but the pieces we have from there are made very well.

We bought our most recent furniture from Haverty's in Tri-County.  I thought it would be too expensive, but it was really reasonable & the quality is great.  I love our bedroom set - we get compliments on it all of the time.

We also bought a fabulous desk from Haverty's.

For wood pieces try Woodcraft. They have a few different stores in the area. We have a lot of stuff from them and it's all excellent quality, custom finished, solid wood.

We've been really pleased with the pieces we have from Crate and Barrel.  You could also look at Room and Board online.  IKEA might well surprise you also.

We love Arhaus (MB Set) and Room & Board (Dining Room Set). We also have a few smaller pieces from Crate & Barrel and our LR Couch is from Macy's. We haven't yet bought anything yet from z.gallerie--but love the styles and think the prices are very reasonable. There is also a catalog online called Ballard Designs--I think it is slightly cheaper than Crate & Barrel on some similar pieces. While I love WIlliams Sonoma Home and Restoration Hardware--I feel that it is way overpriced. Oh and there is a store called Henerdon near Kenwood Mall-the furniture is incredible, but literally so pricey-I fell in love with a DR set there and to get the entire set would have been $25K!!!! Oops-we shouldn't have gone in there. We are in the process of furnishing Man Land and our Office. Then all that will be left is the nursery...in a few years (DOn't think I haven't already been all over the PB Kids Catalog and picked things out!)

I'm not sure how far of a drive it would be for you, but Riley's Furniture in Monroe has some really great, high-quality, reasonably-priced furniture.  It's actually located right next to the Hustler store, lol.
