Okay, I am Irish so here's the low down. The reason people get angry about the name of the Irish Car Bomb is because the Provisional Irish Republican Army's weapon of choice was bombs, car bombs in particular, during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. In the seventies there was an event called Bloody Friday where several bombs, mostly car bombs, were set off in Belfast.
Alright, I think it's ridiculous that people are getting offended. It's a cupcake recipe! People don't know EVERY event that occured in history, and Annie was kind enough to change the name of her recipe. If it's that offensive, don't whip up the recipe and don't order the drink.
